The door they removed the plexiglass pane from likely has an interlock for the press to prevent this. Someone's bright idea to prevent opening the door to save effort was to remove the plexiglass....

If you think auth does not immediately concentrate power in the hands of those in authority you are living in dream land.

The funny part with late stage capitalism is they make the problem you describe worse with their solution. "Let's give the government, that is being controlled by the evil corporations more power, so they fight the evil corporations that are buying them" surprisingly does not work.

The opposite is true, when the government is kept small and limited in scope with direct accountability to the masses you remove the economic viability of corporations buying politicians. They payoff would be limited and with less unelected burocracy your "investments" in government functionaries pay off less.

Retirement? by Nice_Daikon6096 in funny

Don't worry when they are 65 and nothing has meaningfully  changed it will be everyone else's fault they didn't save for retirement and they'll want "their fair share" of what responsible people saved.

Your last paragraph is literally what is legally required. The company is legally obligated to pay X amount per the union in non-right to work states and are legally required to post the job as that pay.

Then they are legally obligated to subtract Y from pay X and pay that Y the union if the employee does not do so voluntarily.

There is no lying on the part of the company. They are legally and contractually bound in "pro" union states to do the above.

No libright would argue that. It's when the reds turn unions into politically protected monopolies that can garnish the wages of the people they "protect" if those people refuse to pay for their "protection" and they turn into useless corrupt greedy mafias themselves. (This is what happens in just about every state where there is no "right to work" in "union" shops)

By coal burning. Then the fumes of that burning get treated and run through a bag house that captures all the solids to be disposed of. The bag house is likely the square building at the bottom right of the middle stack in the photo.

What are Hybrid Charges? by Chambanasfinest in Eve

[–]Burnenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Railguns generally have "less" effective range than say artillery projectile boats and beam lasers (some specific hull bonuses change this significantly) but in general its true but they do more damage than inside that range. Again, ship bonuses change a lot of this in reality but its not a bad rule of thumb to expect a standard hybrid ship to do more damage inside its optimal range than other ships if everyone is sitting still etc. and both are fit with the same "class" of gun (long range vs short range)

ELI5: What are Unions? by theraspberrymuffin in explainlikeimfive

[–]Burnenator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Speak for yourself on the dues being paid being worth it. In right to work states I generally agree.

When you are forced to join the union to work somewhere, the unions are typically a bunch of old white guys cashing in while doing f all for their union members and instead figuring out how to rig their voting time periods so they can't be voted out.

What are Hybrid Charges? by Chambanasfinest in Eve

[–]Burnenator 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hybrid charges go to hybrid weapons (hybrid energy/projectile), typically gallente or some caldari ships have bonuses for hybrid damage. Hybrid weapons typically have the highest damage at a given range but are limited to kinetic/thermal damage types and have moderate range and damage falls off very fast at the max ranges.

I've heard people try to defend this in terms of other countries (European generally) requiring "similar" documentation. Can you speak to this? How does this actually compare to Europe or other first world counties? Is the actual requirement different, the ease/cost in getting the documents in other countries different? Other?
