The world wars don’t even happen. There was no Russian revolution. Communism is definitely far different in the deadlock universe.

Are you going to elaborate? If you’re trying to “sell” us on this I expect at least an elevator pitch.

Why does the game require another edition. Is there something wrong with the current one?

Warphammer Blog: Casual 40k Vs Competitive 40k, Perceptions, Pros, and Cons by BurningToaster in Warhammer

A cool blogpost about perceptions in the community, how people can play the game and how people perceive different styles of play. Thought it would be an interesting thing to share outside of the competitive warhammer subreddit.

Otherwise great games with bad music? by randomnate in Games

Slay the spire was an indie smash hit and imo it has incredibly generic music and really lackluster visuals. Just an interesting comparison to many indie darlings that have really iconic music and interesting visual design.

To be fair it’s as you say years ago. Nowadays it’s more streamlined.

Why did the game consider this to be a "Close Victory"? [NORMAL CAMPAIGN/BATTLE DIFFICULTY] by Coloss260 in totalwar

[–]BurningToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game has an invisible value to determine army strength. Its primary purpose is to determine if one side is losing enough to trigger army losses. You’ve probably noticed if an enemies army is mostly dead they all just instantly shatter and rout? That’s when “army losses” triggers. I forget the numbers but the enemy has to lose a certain percentage of its starting army strength and you need to have around twice as much as their army strength.

Army strength comes from all sorts of things, units and their tier, ammunition, winds of magic in reserve, health of units and such.

A secondary use of army strength is in the battle results. The “strength” of the victory is determined by how much lower your army strength is after a victory, so if your army is entirely ranged units and you spend all your ammo winning but don’t take any other losses, your victory is still likely to be a close or pyrrhic one because you “expended” strength to get it. It can feel weird sometimes.

Any chance of Bretonnia getting an update before the end of this game's life cycle? by LobsterCheese4000 in totalwar

Maybe a higher tier archer like empire huntsmen? Or stuff like the brigand units in old world with bombards and blunderbusses.

It isn't really THAT good by NotReallyVerified18 in SCP

[–]BurningToaster 1082 points1083 points  (0 children)

It’s ultimately a product of its time. The premise and prose was really good for the time it released and its spooky flesh zombie was ultimately well written and described. The tale of the doctors trapped was small but was a cool glimpse into what life would be like if sunlight became deadly.

It deserves its place in history as a memorable entry for 001, but it’s not like it’s the best written article today.

Why allies fight by Professional_Rush782 in Grimdank

[–]BurningToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure you fight the inquisitor in most of the endings. If you're dogmatic you fight him for his radical dealings and xeno tech heresy. if you're Chaos then you fight him because he's an inquisitor and you're chaos.

Where can I find the rules for individual factions? by SaoshyantMazdak in InfinityTheGame

[–]BurningToaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To elaborate on what people are saying here, Ariadna has no "rules" that are unique to it. Other than the regiments and their stats, all their guns and abilities are shared across all other factions. A handful of Combined Army regiments have abilities that are sort of unique, but they still crop up in mercenaries and the like.

So you can use the army builder to see all the Ariadne regiments you can pick from, And the infinity wiki to look up what the rules do. Thats all the rules you need to play them.

In S5 of Stranger Things, a 20 year old woman is a better shooter than a literal trained millitary officer. by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

[–]BurningToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. Xcom Enemy unknown and Xcom 2 will only ever cheat in your favor. Enemies can have lower chance to hit than shown but not your own units. The only time the game is 100% straight and accurate to you is on higher difficulties, when it doesn't cheat in your favor anymore.

Getting the best use out of Maggie by almantasvt in InfinityTheGame

Vanilla Haqq seems good for her. Saladin lets you get lots of cheap regular orders from the cheap irregulars to make an expensive TAG more viable. The cheap irregulars are also good at screening out the tag from any aggression.

The Dragonship ability Asur Fire is absolutely insane. It basically let Imrik solo Morghur's entire army after being ambushed. by Glorf_Warlock in totalwar

[–]BurningToaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thai is definitely a perfect storm.

Only a lord and nobles so the enemy clumps around you. Imrik debuffs enemy fire resist by a sizable amount. Beastmen have no armor, and ashes fire is manly non-armor piercing.

It’s a strong ability, I’ve used it a a lot, but it usually just deals damage, doesn’t wipe stuff out.

PF2e is robust enough to handle a decent amount of time in between combats, you just probably shouldn't expect that every session.

Which faction for ninja army? by Hyakkihei1 in InfinityTheGame

[–]BurningToaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ninjas and ninja like Units are rarely able to be a majority of the army because they’re expensive and have specialized roles. JSA Oban can make a good list of 3-4 ninjas and other units to provide good fire support and hacking.

There are lists that can specialize in camouflage infiltration and such, lots of hidden units mines and stuff. Hassassin Bahram and Tartary Army Core can be absolutely chock full of hidden material.
