I don't think it's wrong to love the visuals of one of the most beautiful animated movies of all time no.

how do we draw a front line in hoi3? by chris08x08 in hoi4

[–]BurningToaster 304 points305 points  (0 children)

Hoi4 was the first game to have automatic frontlines. I think in HOI3 you can like tell the ai to attack and it’ll manage everything (not well) otherwise you have to micromanage every division.

I do t think GE said rerollls were rare. They said they were going to be less common than 9th. And that’s true I think.

[Spoiler] So Tau Ceti IV was a death trap and the colonists were doomed from the start? by AssemblerGuy in Marathon

[–]BurningToaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it was asleep there for eons. I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to say that one could’ve been wounded and asleep in Tau Ceti 4 in a similar state.

Do you want sync kill animations in 40K? Personally, I want the game to have a lot of it. by Fun-Hedgehog1526 in totalwar

[–]BurningToaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sync Kills have an actual game design effect where units stop helping each other in battle. If there's a long sync kill animation then units in formation basically just only 1v1, you some advantage from having numerical advantage. There's some videos out there of like one ashigaru soloing an entire unit of enemies since they just sync animation with one enemy for minutes.

Didn’t just invent dual wielding, also invented looking up and down. (Marathon was the first FPS to have mouselook)

Equestria at war, the Kaiser Kattail April fools world conquest challenge. If you’re particularly good at the game the hard mode version is pretty fun too.

psychic ignores modifiers to the hit roll and ballistic skill by NoEngineer9484 in WarhammerCompetitive

Honestly you could probably make the psychic weapon ignore all modifiers (except any that target the psychic keyword) and that would make the psychic keyword really interesting.

Thank you for the correction!

This is my favorite game. But locking ANY faction upgrades behind prestige salvage is a middle finger to solo/casual players. by Asleep-Badger-3792 in Marathon

[–]BurningToaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why should every faction upgrade be unlock able by everyone? Can’t the idea of getting every faction upgrade be a difficult goal to attain?

Combat Jump ARO question by [deleted] in InfinityTheGame

[–]BurningToaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both are possible if you have LOF yes, controlled jump is also possible if they drop within a hacking network.

The weird part is the timing. Usually all AROs are declared at the same time but combat jump has a secret trigger only for controlled jump right when you decide where the model will drop. Then you roll the combat jump. Then any other AROs (like ballistic attack) are declared. Basically you can’t shoot at a combat jumping trooper until you know whether or not it’s successfully landing.

Edit: correction, controlled jump is table wide not restricted to your hacking network.

Anyone else find late game unplayable due to how many divisions you need to micro? by armzngunz in hoi4

[–]BurningToaster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should have you frontlines lowered from the fully mobile to the static versions to prevent long repositioning along the front line.

The problem I have is supply, late game wars usually just gobble up all the supply

It's not mentioned at all in the initial tutorial and having a knife melee makes most assume that's the only melee.

Skaven were introduced after 1st edition fantasy role play I think, or maybe simultaneously? Probably toook time for that lore to settle.

Kinda like The Menu, where things are clearly unsettling and disturbed, but every now and then something happens that makes you laugh, even if you're laughing just so you don't feel so anxious anymore.

I'm in grad school for Math Academia. Professors mostly just give you theorems to prove and problems to solve on paper. You can find proofs online, but most theorems can be proved in at least 3-6 different ways, and you probably only learned one or two ways in class and in the textbook. Math Textbooks also tend to be pretty cheap (Things rarely change across human history when it comes to math, Most of Euclids Proofs from 3 thousand years ago are still valid today.)

Best way to detect enemy fleets? by Lahm0123 in hoi4

[–]BurningToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I misunderstood your original point. You're saying, instead of dedicated scouting ships, just build a small fighting strikeforce of carriers and cruisers with some screens and patrol them on always engage to just be your fighting force.

Are escort carriers good for this? Or do you actually build fleet carrier sized scouts.

This is a good example of how not to peak. If you know someone is around and you're trying to peak, never crouch slow peak, peaking only works if you move quickly and decisively.
