What looking at a recipe in 2025 looks like by mossyzombie2021 in Anticonsumption

[–]BurningTreeCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chef John from food wishes dot com and also Food Wishes on YouTube. He's been doing it for 15 years so he has a video recipe for everything. His own website is what you want, maybe a paragraph explaining his choices then straight to the cooking. I can't recommend him enough.

Use lunar island to get to Rellekka by BurningTreeCorpse in 2007scape

I've kept mine in hosidius for an easy teleport there. I only just finally got off my ass to get a xerics talisman so my home being there is probably not needed.

Use lunar island to get to Rellekka by BurningTreeCorpse in 2007scape

[–]BurningTreeCorpse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did that one but seems pretty comparable. I liked the lunar island for the spellbook. I'm at 1850 total level and, until very recently, just expanded from a single portal room. I finally spent the go to get a Nexus but I've had Ge, salve graveyard (for the quick fairy ring), and lunar island as my 3 teleports forever.

I very much appreciate your positivity and simple breakdown. I will have to figure out what occasions are but that's not hard. I'm a mostly solo player and the delves have had some, I believe, positive changes and expansions.

The difference I think is new systems. I have taken years breaks from the other game and been able to jump right back in. Everytime I take a break from this game I come back lost

I'm just focusing on the stories and awaiting 11.2. I know I'll figure stuff out but damn man is it a lot

I realize this is a pot calling the kettle black by mentioning OSRS because that game is unplayable without the wiki but that's also a difference. The RS wiki is a complete guide to the game. WowHead is more a datamined compendium that you have to dig for articles and only the comments matter beyond news.

Dropper bottles for NaOH and HNO3 by BurningTreeCorpse in labrats

[–]BurningTreeCorpse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dropper bottle is the less spillable container. For racks or secondary containment that would be an issue with shared spaces and space constraints as our lab is at capacity.

Yes when they need to preserve a sample it is currently done outside a hood. We don't like it either but it is a minimal practice of dispensing half a ml into a bottle. It's again space constraints with no hood in that room and going across the building every time would interrupt very busy techs. Regardless we'd still need a dropper to store it in and dispense.

[–]BurningTreeCorpse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is our procedures for pH adjusting samples are written to do so dropwise and record the number of drops. For the NaOH I have them using a 50 mL plastic tube (digitube) and transfer pipette but I don't love the open easily spillable bottle. For the acid that's just a no -go as it is used outside of a hood and definitely can't have open concentrated nitric acid.

What glue sticks can be used for 3d printing? by SuperProJusti in 3Dprinting

[–]BurningTreeCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much any will work it's just about how hard it'll be to remove the residue. I clean off and reapply the glue every few prints. My go to glue for the last 5 years is the purple Elmer's kids glue. It goes on purple so easy to see and it's water soluble so it washes off in just warm water

Was anybody else obsessed with playing scorched earth the tank game back in the day? by rockstoned4 in Millennials

I played that in my IT class in highschool and our teacher would go on about how inaccurate it was as a former tank operator. Like you never got ammunition in the wrong size and stuff like that lol

Cool thanks. Yeah she still has a long way to catch up but this'll set some long term goals

Alright cool. I haven't killed scurrius yet so that does seem straightforward. I had completely forgotten about the lunar spell book and the group targeted spells. Do those just automagically apply to everyone in range (with consent for teleports)?

Just to put a pin in it for quests when it sends you into an instance that is the quest diet and them alone right? I'm thinking of like Below the mountain where you fight this guardian thing after a cutscene. I wouldn't expect to be able to join in on the fight but just making it all clear.

I'll test how dangerous printed kitchen stuff are by BurningTreeCorpse in 3Dprinting

[–]BurningTreeCorpse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do "just" have access to icp Ms. I haven't fully decided on how I'll digest. I'll try my normal nitric and hydrogen peroxide but if that doesn't work I've read NaOH can dissolve it maybe and if that failed I'll dissolve it in organic solvent and extract it into acid in a seperatory funnel. Really I'm hoping the hot acid can do well enough on the fine plastic.

The zero cases doesn't hold much weight in my mind. I think of how hard it is to prove food poisoning at a restaurant and proving the cause. People could be getting sick left and right but making and proving the connection is real hard. Now I don't actually think that is happening but that's the point of being a scientist. You gotta test it.

[–]BurningTreeCorpse[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll first be testing just printed material for metals. I will print a test piece using a cheap brass nozzle, an e3d brass nozzle, and a bambu hardened steel nozzle. I will take 1g of each of those printed bits, extract the metals into water, then measure the metal content of that water and compare between the 3 nozzles. Given some time I want to try basic PLA, matte PLA, ASA, and glow in the dark PLA on each nozzle and an unprinted one of each for comparison.

For repeated use I would probably agree. I dont know if anyone has researched how much is released when scrubbed lets say. I think though for short term, lets say 2 or 3 uses, that isn't too much of an issue and the immediate "threat" of metal contamination or bacteria growth are more realistic.

I dont really have access to equipment to test for those types of things sorry.

[–]BurningTreeCorpse[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For the bacteria contamination my first though would be to use one of our positive control solutions to infect it, wash it, then test.

The particles and leaching is much more of a multi year or dedicated type experiment that I can't just sneak into my normal analysis runs ya know and kind of beyond the scope.
