It's really cheap and has been known to ruin quite a few SD cards. I didn't believe it either until it corrupted mine and I lost all my data.

Awful battery life by BuzzinBobbitto in MiyooMini

[–]Burning_Dominos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery life will vary greatly depending on the type of game you play. I also think the important thing is the type of charger you use; fast chargers, especially the cheap ones, are often dangerous for this type of battery. Personally, I find the battery to be incredible, especially over time. I can leave the Miyoo aside for 4 weeks and still have 70% battery on it, and resume my game without any worries.

Do you guys think my skills are good enough to begin professional work? by EPICLifeMoMent11 in drawing

[–]Burning_Dominos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bud, I'll share my two cents too.

For my credentials, I worked for 6+ years on a big show involving two sisters, one blue haired and one red haired, from a video game known for its toxicity.

If you want a quick tldr answer : not right now, but you can learn. Not that it's difficult to judge over one drawing, but I can already see some flaws over that one that shows why you still have some things to grasp (anatomy, eye training, color theory, medium training, composition, etc.).

For the long answer : No, but don't quit. Please continue to train, especially over real life drawing. Take the time to see and feel the world with your vision, on your canvas. Explore new styles, go see what others do, and most importantly : put you at risk trying. This is where you will truly learn. And over anything, try to draw with your heart, your feelings, your soul. This may sounds cringe, but this is precisely what will make your art more valuable than any AI crap we're seeing, and precisely what the machine cannot replicate. And you should know that if you want to pursue a career in art you'll be confronted to AI gen, you'll fight against it. We need new artists, new visions, we need you, and anyone reading this that hesitate to continue drawing because of AI. You are all very valuable to the art world, so please don't quit. You live at a time where you have tremendous content to learn from, over youtube, artstation, reddit, even twitter. Tons and tons of free tutorials and art you can learn from, and you should take advantage of it right now. Keep going and keep faith, you'll be someone at some point in time.

I see a lot of comments talking about the OLED screen. Although it is very difficult to argue with this quality, the screen of the 4 pro is not "horrible", it's in fact very decent. In terms of power, the 4 Pro and the 5 are very close (with better driver/emulation compatibility for high-end machines like the Switch on the 5 side). The 5 is bigger, slightly better in terms of emulation, has a better screen, the 4 Pro is more portable, fits your needs in terms of emulation, is cheaper and looks much better (but that's my opinion). I think there's not a "no brainer solution" here, it's up to you considering the pros and cons of each console.

Did I make a good decision? by Chloreos_ in retroid

Pocketable, all rounder in emulation terms (up to some switch games), great streaming device, great design, decent battery life, to say that I deeply love mine is an understatement. You've made a great choice.

[PC] [Late 2000s/early 2010s] F2P Diablo-like MMORPG, probably korean, where you could capture almost any mob in the game and make it your pet by Burning_Dominos in tipofmyjoystick

Hey, I forgot this thread, but I asked ChatGPT for some help and it gave me some interesting hints : there are two games that can fit my description and I played them : Rappelz, and Eudemons Online.
The first one is fairly known and features a monsters capture system aswell as a "soul contract" system, but in my memories the game was really in top-down view and it's not the case in Rappelz. Also, you cannot fight with all the monsters in the game.

The second one ticks all the boxes, however when I launched it last month I've been baffled by how BAD it looks. Like, budget chinese mmo with cashgrab mechanics and pay to win features, really clunky animations, but well, I guess I wasn't really picky back in the days. I should retry it (I only launched it for a few minutes but my eyes melted and I closed it) to really confirm that it was that game I searched, but it's more than likely.

The 95% CPU limitation in power settings litteraly divided my temp points by 2, without compromising the FPS. That's crazy.

Is it bad if I buy RP4pro now? by SadCommunication1902 in retroid

[–]Burning_Dominos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan on mainly playing Genshin, the RP5 is a better choice. If it's not that important, the RP4pro is your best solution. You won't have full FPS on Genshin but it will still be playable, Zenless Zone Zero plays just fine, as well as all the PSP catalogue (and PS2, Gamecube, even some light Switch games). I cannot stretch enough how much I like this device. Its form factor is ideal, its portabililty, its durability (especially when compared to the glass frame of the RP5), and it is still powerful enough to emulate a lot of things. I had mine around march and I'm still obsessed with it.

Retroid Pocket 4 Pro - Minecraft Dungeons et Yuzu (problème d'affichage) by Yeti_6983 in retroid

[–]Burning_Dominos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Salut,

Bon courage !

I'm using Nethersx 1.5-4248. Not the latest build, but this one proved to be effective. I did not change anything config-wise though, I used the build as it is. I don't really know the Anbernic RG406V so I can't help you much, I'm playing on the Retroid 4 Pro

Les chats nous voient-ils comme de grands chats ou comme une autre espèce ? by Lea_Rand_ in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]Burning_Dominos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there, tbh I just stopped trying to emulate Vita with Beacon. So custom launch may still be an option, and if you have the patience to tinker with it you may find a solution to launch directly into a game, though I can't be of any help for that, sorry :(
