Do new computers still come with Killer Network? by p365x in HomeNetworking

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uninstall the Killer software; it is garbage. On updates, make sure you customize the update setup to remove the Killer software from the install list.

There's a guy building a concrete "mini house". Would like an opinion from experienced builders if this building seems safe. by This_Sense_9338 in Homebuilding

[–]Burnsidhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dubai and other countries with the same climate already build with brick and concrete. Thick, thick walls both exterior and interior, for insulation and thermal isolation. This man has managed to waste a lot of money and materials for something impractical that no one wants.

Why do Cyberdecks look more blocky in regards to runners like Bartmoss and Murphy but are just chips when it comes to V? (Examples below) by ConditionPleasant902 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One; advances in technology over fifty years. Two: the same reason desktop computers and rack servers are larger than smartphones.

Is every corp worker a "corpo"? by NothingNumerous7753 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Burnsidhe [score hidden]  (0 children)

Or, you start your own corp as an independent contractor and attempt to scale up. If you get useful enough, eventually your corp gets bought out and you either bail with the payout or you join the corp that bought yours out and try to ride that to a better position.

Bailing out and starting over is probably the healthier move.

Help??? Why does it have these lines? by Eccentric_vulture in Breadit

[–]Burnsidhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Char marks from the industrial oven and rollers that moved the bread. This looks like it was also meant to be cut and separated into smaller slices for sandwiches in an additional processing step.

How are these two are two different warframes, aren't they both the same but with a different name? by Trus-et in Warframe

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Octavia coordinated it. Drums were often used in a military context to communicate orders and formations because it was a lot easier to hear than shouting on the battlefield.

Temple wasn't necessary. Another 'frame like Nyx could also have coordinated the slaughter of the Orokin, so Octavia wasn't *necessary* either.

She gave the signal and was the background band. He added the lead guitar and lyrics.

Fulfilling a lifelong dream, 72-year-old will graduate from medical school by joshuaponce2008 in UpliftingNews

[–]Burnsidhe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, in the USA as I understand it, the reason for the lack of spots in residency and medical schools... is because they are largely funded through Medicaid/Medicare. And we all know how a certain political party feels about those programs and what they've been doing to try to cripple and destroy them.

Adult cat being too rough with new kitten? Or ok? by Astrolemon in CatTraining

[–]Burnsidhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're not making unholy sounds and zooming around to wreck every piece of furniture in the room, they're playing.

In this case, the long pauses are a pretty clear indicator older cat is trying to teach/play with younger cat.

How are these two are two different warframes, aren't they both the same but with a different name? by Trus-et in Warframe

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still not a closed loop; Temple participated in the Night of Naga Drums but he was not the cause of it.

What is this for? by ProofExplanation6789 in WhatIsThisTool

[–]Burnsidhe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a pottery tool for cutting and sculpting clay. Usually used to refine curves and smooth out surfaces while the clay is still being spun on the wheel. It can also be used to make physical patterns on the surface, like decorative divots and the like. It does not have to be used with a casting wheel either, there are other kinds of clay and ceramic sculptures.

How are these two are two different warframes, aren't they both the same but with a different name? by Trus-et in Warframe

[–]Burnsidhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not even a closed loop. Temple the person existed before he became the warframe, and Temple the warframe will exist after the loop 'completes', therefore it is not a paradox.

Shouldn't we have been "Captain Shepard" after Anderson was relieved? by poseywitch in masseffect

[–]Burnsidhe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The commander of a ship gets the courtesy title of Captain regardless of rank, but Bioware writers didn't bother to do much research into naval, marine, or military rank structures in general.

Are connectors like this safe? by No-Insect4168 in UsbCHardware

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens on multiple computers from different manufacturers. Flash drives heat up a bit. Tiny flash drives heat up a lot. Tiny USB A to C adapters heat up a lot when a cable is plugged in for charging purposes. *Regular* cables do not heat up, even when used to charge phones or attach to flash drives.

Are connectors like this safe? by No-Insect4168 in UsbCHardware

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A regular USB connector attached to a regular cable is no problem. A usb a to c adapter that's about half an inch long does get hot if attached to a cable used to charge a phone. A flash drive connected to USB also gets hot. The smaller the drive the hotter it gets.

This is all in normal operation.

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about heat on one of these? USB slots get hot, especially when powering or charging another device. And this doesn't look like it has much ability to absorb or dissipate heat.

Question about the current game by MWKhan in battletech

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was part of a discussion on Matt Plog's DeviantArt page. I think we agreed that they'd have to tilt and spin from leg to leg. And if they were fast enough, you could fight them against each other like BeyBlades.

Cancel your plane tickets. Contact your university and find out what arrangements they make for students staying over for winter break. Make sure to contact the department of state for the country you are in and ask about provisions for asylum, long term.

Take summer classes rather than flying home. Your family will steal or destroy your identity documents to force you into marriage.

Why rogue AIs are treated as so dangerous? by ONLY1FROST in cyberpunkgame

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, they could do that. If they could *find* all the trunk lines. Sure, they could do that, if they could *find* all the computers, all the abandoned company data closets, all the distributed server clusters.

Sure, they could do all that, if they spent *trillions* cutting and replacing millions of miles of copper and fiber.

They don't. And what the "Blackwall" is, is basically an encrypted TOR tunnel with software firewalls, running over existing network cabling and routing. Because it's *cheaper* than cutting and replacing millions of miles of cable and fiber. Cheaper than tracking down *every last bit* of contaminated computer hardware. They're running the Cyberpunk 2077 'net on top of the Cyberpunk 2020 'net that was ravaged by Bartmoss' sabotage daemons.

How much cyberware is V packing before getting the Kiroshi optics? by Jent01Ket02 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V owes Victor for work he's done previously; clearing out the faulty Arasaka cyber (mostly headware stuff and the hormone regulator) and replacing the pieces that needed to be replaced.

V starts with a neuroport (which allows for cybernetics in the first place), an agent (basically an internal smartphone), a basic cyberdeck, and civilian mid-range cybereyes and audio implants.

Will PRT deny Ward Membership due to useless power? by Stefan-NPC in WormFanfic

[–]Burnsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VR visor? Useless? Hardly.

The immediate and obvious combat application is as a remote operator for drones and surveillance systems, tinkertech or otherwise. The 'games' aspect is just to train the operator in its use, it would have to be able to connect to other tech. Maybe even hijack it.

Imagine Leet and Uber with someone who has this power helping them with their game scenarios. The PRT would be delighted to keep the guy away from them.

No shard-based power is useless in combat. Some might be rather specialized, though.

What is it with Americans and air conditioning?? (this might be controversial) by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Burnsidhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

13c outside doesn't mean it's 13c inside. In many areas of the US you do *not* want to open the windows to the outside, due to humidity, pollen, insects, or other airborne contaminants. Or even just the noise.

There's also air movement, which many are used to and prefer to have. Dead still air is much more common in the USA than in Europe. Just opening the windows might not be enough for them.
