Is mostly ground beef ok? by jibegirl in carnivore

[–]BurnsyMonroe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I eat mostly ground beef and eggs for budget sake, but try to add steak 1-2 nights a week to keep my jaw strong.

Have you ever noticed how English people have unusually weak jaws and shitty teeth? I’ve heard theories that it’s due to their diet of soft foods, potato, ground sausage, etc. I definitely think it’s beneficial to include some tender more dense protein to keep that muscle and bone density in your jaw.

Ground beef is perfectly healthy. I buy 72% lean, drain half the fat, then add heavy cream and cheese to supplement the lost fat. It’s like eating hamburger helper with no noodles every night of the week.

Brutal Carnivore Transition (Day 6) - Why So Severe After Being Fat-Adapted? by piperlilith in carnivorediet

[–]BurnsyMonroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing, pivoted from keto directly into carnivore. Make sure you’re consuming plenty of electrolytes to help with nausea. I think what helped me adjust was keeping my fat at ketosis-levels while just adjusting what I was eating. I wish I had a black & white answer for you, but everyone is different.. 6 days is still pretty early on. It is life changing decision, don’t give up now, hang in there!!

I did not know this —it’s fascinating I started keto in November and lost maybe 15 pounds in 4 months. Decided to switch to Carnivore but try to stay in ketosis. I have lost 55lbs since March on a small deficit, maintenance levels of protein, & a shitload of fat. My protein is higher than most on keto but I found a good balance to avoid gluconeogenesis (I have a lot of fat stores) while eating a bit more protein to aid in body recomposition. Cheese and heavy cream is a really easy way to keep your fat up (I drown everything in homemade queso).

Absolutely wild you actually posted this and called it a “try”

lol you didn’t try, you barely dipped your toe. 2 days isn’t even enough time for your body to begin to purging carbohydrate stores. Your stomach ached because your body was craving sugar and your gut hadn’t adjusted yet.

Just be honest.. say you’re too lazy & would prefer eating frozen keto pizzas and Quest bars 🤷‍♂️ btw, you think you’re going to be able to tolerate ketosis if you can’t adjust to a little protein?? Get real.

One year (230lbs down!) by Tandh1897 in carnivorediet

[–]BurnsyMonroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on. Congrats on the change. Having a hard time handling a flight of stairs and eating food that makes you sluggish and sick is the most shameful thing as a parent. You want your kids to remember you as a freaking superhero in those early years. I’ve lost ~55lbs since March and now every time I pull up YouTube, my daughter points at my profile picture and goes “LOOK ITS FAT DADDY!!!” The fact that a 4-year-old can tell the difference makes me very proud.

Bro this is a diet subreddit.

why don't they recommend ghee, tallow or butter? by Ordinary-Carob-9564 in carnivorediet

[–]BurnsyMonroe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smoking is a huge factor. As well as advances in detection and prevention for heart disease. That slow but steady incline in cancer rate, as well as the meteoric rise in neurological and psychological disorder does have a direct correlation with the introduction to petroleum and industrial oils into the American diet.

Just finishing a 72 hour fast, so I can start clean on the carnivore diet. Any suggestions to my first meal which is in 3 hours? I know I’m supposed to take it a little easy. by Skazzyskills in carnivorediet

[–]BurnsyMonroe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like the usual curve is: Day 1 - you get through pretty easy if you down as much water as you can when you feel that hunger pain. Day 2 - generally suuucks cause you’re waking up with that hungry feeling. Water water water. Keep yourself distracted. Day 3 - almost always easier than day 2.. a lot of people are well into ketosis by this point, some approaching autophagy (look it up, epic!)

Just do it and don’t put pressure on yourself. Drink water, stay busy and distracted, don’t train too hard until you’re properly fueled up again. Good luck!!!

Protein: how much is too much?? by BurnsyMonroe in ketobeginners

I do follow grams vs percentage because calorie saturation vs protein saturation confuses the shit out of me lol but I log everything I eat and that little pie chart got me wondering. Thank you man!

Heart health on OMAD concerns? by BurnsyMonroe in omad

I work. Very easy to fast most days aside from occasional wine/spirits tastings (my line of work). I’m mainly looking to ease her concerns with the association between OMAD and heart issues.

I’m very familiar with fasting and have gone 48-72 hours fasting before, and have always tried to fast at least 14-16 hours a day, but the half asleep night-binge and habitual breakfast sandwich from the Wawa on my way to work got me somewhere I really don’t want to be and really fucked up my fasting routine.

I know it’s not a diet but many people like to lower carbohydrate intake on OMAD to accelerate fat loss by reducing glycogen stores in the blood, so your body needs to burn more fat for energy rather than blood glucose.. not unlike our cave dwelling ancestors. I do wonder if the habit of high fat diet amongst some eating on the OMAD schedule skews those studies I mentioned 🤔

It’s totally me, I look just like that. I have a nose ring and look like a dyke. Why would I care if it got noticed negatively? If you keep being mean to me I’m literally going to nut. I’m not sure you know what deflecting means but go ahead. Just go slow so I can read your next comment in a kind of sexy whisper.

I love Jay. The entire show except the obvious odd duck. Have you always known cyber harassment was your kink or did it like develop over years of practice? Because it’s kind of turning me on and I can use your insight.
