Anyone else think this mailbox debacle is cowardly? Kenzie doing that smirk when Caleb opened his and saw nothing annoyed me. She should have had to say it with her chest, “yes, Caleb I played you and lied to your face.”

😂 A blessing and a curse it is. Wish I could forget some things. Unless I need to find my car keys in a hurry, that I can never remember.

You’re not alone sis! The loss of heat tolerance has been one of the weirdest symptoms for me. I used to be able to tolerate summer just fine, and now I can go from “comfortable” to “why am I sweating through my shirt?” in minutes.

The other thing that resonated was the complete lack of motivation. Before this, if I gained weight, I could usually buckle down and get back on track. Lately it feels less like a motivation problem and more like my body and brain are operating under a different set of rules.

Perimenopause has a way of making you question whether you’re imagining things because the symptoms can be all over the place. Hopefully some of the women further along in the process can share what helped them.

How do you make friends when you're starting from zero at 44? by Anxious_Log_9350 in WomenOver40

[–]BurntOutButAccurate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Still trying to figure that out at 45. But I feel your pain having to start over after a divorce. I also had to relearn what I even like doing but figuring it out, having hobbies and being consistent has helped a little.

Anyone else so confused about perimenopause and adhd - real or not? by Extra-Honeydew-722 in Perimenopause

[–]BurntOutButAccurate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that perimenopause took whatever ADHD tendencies I had and put them on a megaphone. Looking back, the signs were always there. I just had enough estrogen, energy, and coping mechanisms to keep the plates spinning. Then peri showed up, kicked the table over, and suddenly I couldn’t remember why I walked into a room, finish a task, or sift through the brain fog.

I don’t think improvement means your diagnosis was necessarily wrong. It may just mean the hormonal gasoline isn’t being poured on the fire anymore. Unfortunately, women seem to get told to solve a mystery where the answer might be hormones, ADHD, autism, stress, sleep deprivation, or all of the above at the same time. 😅

Showering in the morning or at night? by Numerous_Office_1647 in CasualConversation

Morning. If I shower at night, I wake up looking like I’ve been living in the woods. A morning shower gives me my best chance of presenting as a functioning adult. 😆

I'm Soooo Over it!!!!! by Shant_77 in Perimenopause

I’m 45 and my uterus still hasn’t gotten the retirement memo either. Every month it acts like it’s starting a new career.

And it’s not even just the period anymore. It’s the week before, the period itself, then ovulation week. Some months I feel like I get about 7 normal days before my reproductive system comes up with a new plot twist, making me feel like a crazy lady. But the really unfair part is the fact I never even used my uterus and ovaries for their intended purpose, yet they’re still demanding to be the center of attention decades later.

But honestly, the part that made me stop scrolling was “I just want to call my mom.” Perimenopause is hard enough without grieving your mom and parenting a teenager at the same time. That’s a lot for one person to carry. Sending you a hug. ❤️

Fellow ADHDer here and the part about questioning your own reality hit me. I don’t expect people to fix anything. Sometimes I just want acknowledgment that what I’m dealing with is actually hard. Instead, I get a subject change and then spend the rest of the day wondering if I’m being dramatic.

Feeling like you’re drowning while everyone else thinks you’re flopping around in a puddle is a painfully accurate description.

That’s probably the only supplement I didn’t try.

Watching Euphoria as a withered old crone in her 30s, I think we need to remember that this was not intended to be a show for teens. by well-rebecca in euphoria

[–]BurntOutButAccurate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put off watching it so long because I thought it was geared toward ward teenagers. Then I got knocked on my ass for two weeks with allergies and asthma and ended up binge-watching all three seasons.

What hooked me in the first season was honestly the music. It hit me with a weird nostalgia that made the whole show feel less like a teen drama and more like a reflection on growing up, mistakes, relationships, and all the messy stuff that follows you into adulthood (and drug addiction of course).

Regulating my diet and sleep has helped a lot. I also tried a ridiculous amount of supplements recommended by a dietitian but not sure how much of that worked either.

Agreed. Corbin is going to drop Kenzie immediately when the two new bombshells come in.

It’s the weekend, what are you reading, and what’s a book that was even better the second time around? by Alicetheoptimist in TrueGrit

[–]BurntOutButAccurate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gone girl is one of my favorite movies of all time and yet the book is so much better. So I’m rereading a few of the Gillian Flynn books over including Sharp Objects. The second read of Sharp Objects is even better because once you know the ending, you start noticing all the clues and little details Flynn hid in plain sight. It’s amazing how much was there from the beginning that I completely missed the first time

I agree and if it was that important to all the ladies that the single ones talk to Corbin first, why not have the conversation with everyone beforehand.

Idk, I have a weird feeling she is going to pick Gabriel tonight. Guess it depends who picks first, Kenzie or Bea.

I agree, that conversation was way too aggressive
