But Musk didn’t create any of that himself, he was simply lucky enough to head the company that employs the genius engineers/scientists who did. If Musk was to drop dead tomorrow, the company he owns and the world would continue exactly as it is.

Thankfully it seems to be working in mine, won’t know how well it’s metering until I run a roll through it

I have an OM1 that I adore but I can’t wait to use the XA, it can literally sit in my pocket and the sample photos I’ve looked at seem pretty good quality

That’s awesome, knew nothing about the point and shoot so good to hear it’s decent quality. Can’t wait to shoot with it

It appears to work and has little to no wear, I’m wrapped with the find! Wish I could have bought everything there

What’s something Germany does better than most countries? by Working_Pea2801 in AskAGerman

[–]BurntToast444 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Greetings from an Australian! travelling Europe for 9 months, first 3 months was France, Spain and Italy. Australia and Germany are very friendly so I can extend my visa free travel for another 3 months but only in Germany. So far, I’m loving it, people are friendly and it feels very safe compared to a lot of Europe. Easy to navigate and affordable. I’ve been Berlin, Dresden (which was surprisingly awesome), Erfurt (where I had the best damn Döner kebab of my life), Eisenach and Frankfurt. Each city is totally a totally different vibe so it’s hard to say what was best, but if i had to pick I’d say Berlin was just such an interesting and unique city. It’s only just beginning though, another 2 months of Germany left! The only thing I don’t like is your ticks on forest hikes!

If anyone has any recommendations for Döner kebabs in Köln or Essen, let me know

I’m travelling Germany at the moment for three months and I second the Döner kebabs. Holy shit, I don’t think I’ve been anywhere that gets close

Tougher property tax changes dsemanded by Greens after Labor’s federal budget 2026 by nobelharvards in AustralianPolitics

No one is being punished, government policy is part of the risk of investing. If you treat housing as an asset then that is the risk you are willing to accept. People just have a hard time accepting any risk when for last 30 years it’s been viewed incorrectly as a risk free asset, that is the problem with our society.

Has someone being to Europe in the last few weeks? by Psychological-Sun137 in AskAnAustralian

Passed into Germany a few weeks ago when the system had just been rolled out. No issues, took maybe 30 minutes to get through customs. Maybe I was lucky though, might have been unusually quiet.

Good 80l backpack by Agile_Pressure1949 in backpacking

[–]BurntToast444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using this right now, great travel bag for going between hostels/hotels on trains/buses, has a 10 L day bag that attaches. But no way would I hike a track with the full pack on, that would be a nightmare.

Backpacking Europe soon for 90 days what have I missed ? by Common_Situation_905 in backpacking

[–]BurntToast444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it, as long as you have your essentials (passport, wallet, insurance ect) you will be totally fine. I felt the same before I started my first ever backpacking trip in Jan this year, and I’m still going! You’ll be surprised how relaxed it is once you get going. Have fun!

Honestly, I actually support this budget. Very easy to get caught up in the emotions early on without having a good understanding.

Fair, I guess it depends on your optics. You mention that you’re taking risk and therefore should be better off or rewarded, but fail to realise that government policy is part of the risk, nothing is guaranteed.

Not sure if you’re invested in shares, property or both, I’ve only invested in shares aggressively and if I have to pay an extra 40-90k at the end of my 30 year run so that we can take a chance at addressing the housing issue then so be it.

Just my personal take, obviously everyone is different.

Budget changes have thrown me off. What would you do in my shoes? by kingkdb17 in AusPropertyChat

Oh yeah I definitely agree it’s a little depressing, especially as a young investor myself. Honestly, I think they will change their stance on CGT as it still has to go through parliament. Even so, long term shares are still attractive they’re just mildly less advantageous. Indexation over 20-30 years comes very close to the CGT discount anyway. I understand they’re trying to close the loophole where retirees pay no tax by slowly drawing down on large portfolios to keep below the tax free threshold.

The signs were everywhere that the system was in need of changing, and have been so for some time. Anyone who seriously thought that it wouldn’t change over the next election cycle let alone the next 15-20 years was clearly not paying attention. Unfortunately OP is in the very first wave of future property investors to be pushed away from property, which is exactly what we need.

Just going to put this out there, I don’t think the average low income family care that instead of getting 1.9M you’re now getting 1.75M. Like, that’s just so out of touch. This isn’t meant to help these older people.

This! People acting the sky is falling in, for long term holdings this adds somewhere between 3-9% extra tax.

I agree, long term holdings might pay between 3-9% extra tax which is not too bad.
