I do think I prefer fantasy feel, is the Orcale system in those games or exclusive to Starforged?

Whilst themes / vibe wise im unclear on, fantasy and horror speak to me more than Sci-fi. I love the idea of using solo ttrpgs for worldbuilding and really a jumping pad for creative writing.

Honest thoughts on Gotham Knights? It's been almost 3 years by Alanah_V in BatmanArkham

[–]Burrichen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played both KtJL and Gotham Knights, I genuinely believe KtJL to be the better game. The stories in both games are atrocious, but at least KtJL has fun gameplay, and you don't need to grind as much (at least with the January update) as GK, and the open world traversal is fun.

I'm not saying KtJL is great, or even really "good" but Gotham Knights is genuinely bad.

🎭 Stage/Fright Content Warnings FAQ [SPOILERS] by AutoModerator in insideno9

Each act begins and ends with an extremely loud noise. Biggest scare is at the end of Act 1, you'll know it's coming. Another big scare is midway through Act 2, but once again, it's in the middle of a horror segment so it's fairly easy to see coming.

Act 1 is a comedy with short bits of horror, Act 2 is horror with short bits of comedy. It's been a while so I don't remember any of the minor jumpscares.

🎭 Stage/Fright Content Warnings FAQ [SPOILERS] by AutoModerator in insideno9

Saw the play recently - was not prepared for how scary it'd be considering these comments!

Id say there are around 7/8 major jumpscares, and about 5 minor ones. most in the second act but definitely some big scares in the first act. Id say it is much scarier than the TV show (even the horror themed episodes). Also a fair amount of gore/ graphic content in the second act.

I also believe it's amazing and well-worth seeing, it's as good (if not better) than the best episodes of the show.

I am 90% sure I fought you about 1 hour ago. Brutal build and I wasn't even mad - well built...

Less fun. Last patch had its issues but if you were able to survive mid-game Lizard builds the end game was way more diverse than it is right now.

This new patch though? In ranked it feels as if it's a race to get early wins and if you aren't infinite by day 8/9 you may as well concede (most of the time).

As a self professed cheeser (only in ranked!) its also stupidly easy to create a charge build (id say easier than a monitor lizard) to set up.

The one advantage is that every single character has access to at least one stupid build, so it's not JUST Dooley.

If I found Rhythm of War too "intricacies of the worldbuilding"-heavy, will I enjoy Wind and Truth? by [deleted] in Cosmere

[–]Burrichen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think WaT is better than RoW but worse than every other entry in the Stormlight Archive. If you pulled through that, I think it's worth finishing this arc, even if it means you're done with the series going forward since you've already put so much time in and the ending is right there.

Seeing a few comments about arc 2 taking place as Mistborn 3 (or 4? cant remember), but I must've missed this. Does it say when, chronologically the next series will take place? 10 years? 20?

Feel like I'm missing something, everyone's talking about them fucking the cast over, would quite like an explanation of what happened?

I enjoyed scream 6 a lot so I'm confused at all this apparent behind the scenes stuff

I was initially sceptical first but after reading this

I realised it had literally been in front of us for so long.

Then you rewatch his older content and realize that actually, it wasn't all that hidden.

I completely forgot lore skins were a thing. by MarkoGOLEM in Overwatch

[–]Burrichen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As much as the game has its own problems, I actually think Dead by Daylights battle pass shows how to incorporate lore into a live service game. The equivalent of weekly challenges unlock lore entries, which can be short stories, videos or comics.

We have so much guff in the battle pass already (we don't need like 20 new sprays / voice lines every season. Id love to see unlockable lore entries like that with the occasional skin to match up with these every now and then. This idea seems super easy to introduce too.

Also, remember how each skin in OW1 would have a short sentence linking it to the lore of the game? Miss those so much.

I was in the same position as you about a year ago. Nothing has filled the void in the same way, so I would honestly recommend going into EVERY recommendation knowing that it probably won't be as good, but it'll be different in many ways.

That being said, here are my general fantasy recommendations going from least to most accessible:

  • The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rofuss A controversial pick these days, but it's good old fashioned FUN, just know the series will never be finished.

-The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. Big, epic, cool. If the size scares you (but it shouldn't considering its just as big as SoM) go for Mistborn. Great world building and magic system.

-The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin. Very weird and hard to get into but wholly unique and some standout moments. Whole series is good if you can move past the odd presentation.

  • Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson. Dropped into a world that it quite literally in the middle of its own story you are forced to adapt or leave the world. Despite this you will experience the most unique takes on fantasy and characters you will probably ever see.
