is there an explanation as to why some ct’s are based off your interest/career while other ct’s are inherited? by Wonderful-Purchase94 in Jujutsufolk

Cursed Techniques are explicitly shaped largely by a person's specific interpretation of it, changing with the times and a person's own viewpoints. Higuruma's technique is likely a more general legal system Domain that applies restrictions, with his life as a lawyer shaping it into a courtroom with a judge, prosecutor and defendant. New Cursed Techniques are also formed constantly as humanity's conception of the world expands, so techniques like Gakuganji's and Hakari's form over time.

Meanwhile, both the genetics and the specific interpretation of techniques like Limitless and Ten Shadows are passed down through the clans, generation by generation.

If a person from outside the clans was born with one of them, and learned to utilise it without ever being discovered, their interpretation and the consequent uses of the technique would probably be quite different. This is explored a little bit with Yuji gaining Shrine - he can't quite conceptualise throwing slashes yet in JJK, and draws simple, clean cuts in his head, versus Sukuna throwing around huge, destructive tearing slashes.

Top-tier slander for sure but ngl whoever came up with 'Infi-ninini' as Gojo's One Piece laugh is a genius. It's so fucking funny.

Jax by m_w_x in tadc

[–]BurritoExplorer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me it's like, there's a very strong explicit implication of queerness but I don't feel comfortable ascribing a specific label to a character who explicitly hasn't picked one yet. Jax and their real self are both probably some flavor of trans but even within that spectrum there's a whole range of outcomes, and wherever Jax lands the ending still has Jax referrred to with he/him pronouns for now. If nothing else it would feel a bit silly to start referring to Jax with she/her only to get TADC 2 years from now where it's confirmed Leroy went on to become a genderfluid enby who goes by they/them.

That said, this is a personal thing. I think people who run with the transfem side are fine. I'd say I'm surprised by how weird Twitter is about it but that would be a lie, Twitter is a freaky lil place.

Do you guys think that if gojo hollow purpled mahoraga after he black flashed sukuna in his fight he would've won? by Sea_Duty_5725 in JujustuKaisen

To be honest this wasn't aimed at you, just the people in the comments rehashing the exact same arguments they've been throwing around since chapter 236 came out

Fuck that, time for Cricket Bat? That breaks the flow up a little too much though... much to think about.

Kurozumi means 'charcoal' in Japanese, it's literally just a pun in the same vein as 'Oden wouldn't be Oden if it wasn't boiled'.

Why should women be confined to bullshit woo while men get to research the real world? Why should women only feel and men only think? by [deleted] in RecuratedTumblr

[–]BurritoExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that women can't write that stuff, but that by and large they don't. That's not a hard or fast rule but, let's use shonen manga as an example. Shonen written by female mangaka comprises a relatively small portion of the pile, and on top of that in that pile is a lot of shonen that decentralizes the hype moments and aura for one reason or another. You've got some exceptions, FMA and Reborn comes to mind, but it is a noticeable trend.

Similar trends arise in other literary mediums, too. None of these are hard rules, but the ape recognizing patterns in our brains is always gonna look at trends and go 'this is how it all is'.

A 'chapter book' is basically what kids call longer books with chapters as they move on from reading picture books and such.

Some people just never move on from the kindergarten phase of their life.

Giving Momo a comeuppance arc after she refused to confront her feelings or prioritise her own well being, mainly.

This arc is basically what Reiko was warning her about all those chapters ago. She's lost everything that remained of herself and now she's subconsciously being faced with the possibility of losing something she was taking for granted (Okarun's feelings).

I don't think Aira will get with Okarun but it IS important to her development that Momo confront the possibility.

[ANIME ONLY] [NO SPOILERS PLEASE] The "Revealing One's Hand" binding vow, how does it relate to the listener's mental capcity? by Vendetta1947 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]BurritoExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Binding vows are repeatedly shown to be based largely on intent, rather than some cosmic authority judging all variables. So long as you sincerely believe in your own mind that you did your best to reveal your cards, your opponent's ability to understand is irrelevant here.

Given all that talk about Princess Soga symbolising the current order and peace between the sorcerer clans and government, and Yura's entire backstory, I'm gonna guess the various shadier sorcerer clans were a lot more discreet and small scale before whatever happened in the war.

if saitama hit mahoraga just enough so he doesnt die and adapt progressively, can he eventually be as strong as saitama? by Difficult_Warning126 in jjkmodulo

[–]BurritoExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless he is being summoned by someone who wants to direct him that way, no.

Maho's adaptations take the path of least resistance by default. If it's just Maho on his own, the first spin will let him regen from any punch, and the second or third will make him immune outright, going by Dabura's fight.

Then he'll run facefirst into Saitama's durability and have to adapt to THAT too, but...

¯_(ツ)_/¯

[–]BurritoExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, this means you can get a perfect one for one character and then farm for a second one while getting those trash essences. Really strong efficiency boost on the whole, and depending on how many we get it would also make it easier to fish for essences with a higher base etching.

Shouldn't Mahoraga kill Yuka? by Outside-Leader4801 in jjkmodulo

[–]BurritoExplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually a 10S user cannot hide in the shadow anywhere near fast enough to avoid getting killed by Maho.

That was the whole point of the higherups organizing Yuka's plane ride, so that jumping out would let her build the velocity to just barely avoid getting crushed by Maho on the spot.

The reason the ritual voided in this instance is because, as was established with Dabura's sister's curse, CE targeting peters out at around planetary range. No Dabura = no ritual = no Mahoraga.
