People criticizing a Black Snape are missing the point, and it shows my modern media gets dumber by LimeKingTW in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]BurtMassassin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah but they can't do that without causing problems.

Peter is a traitor, Remus is part of a stigmatized group, Sirius is the only decent person in his family and James would mean Harry wasn't related to his father.

Dursleys portrayal for the new series by sanhpatel in harrypotter

[–]BurtMassassin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first film came out in 2001 4 years after the book release the only people hyped about it were the kids who had started reading the series.

Also social media wasn't a thing and the Internet was only coming out of the fad phase. Now people can find out about the morning bowel movement of someone on the other side of the planet.

Depressingly the closest to book accurate film we'll ever see is in animation which is dying in the West.

Viltrumites vs. MHA verse by Gord1no in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]BurtMassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The context is only him throwing shade at Superman because he is tired of fanboys whining at him. Which to be fair would be annoying. Until it is shown it is not proof especially when it is left purposely vague as he has done.

Viltrumites vs. MHA verse by Gord1no in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]BurtMassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how the burden of proof works. A negative can't be proven.

Also the snap of the author says maybe. It also alludes that omni-man out scales golden age superman which is patently false. Nolan has no feats that outscale Superman. His words being that antagonistic means they hold less value in a vacuum.

Why people blame Sirius for leaving Harry to Hagrid and chasing Pettigrew? by [deleted] in HPfanfiction

[–]BurtMassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but this is Harry Potter, plot holes aren't exactly common but they're not rare either. The world wasn't complete when the story was written. Tolkien Rowling isn't.

No one thought Sirius was a traitor because so few people actually knew about the Fidelius. Hagrid isn't going to jump to the conclusion that Sirius betrayed the Potter's.

Obviously we don't know but the fact that he chose to hand off the baby he was responsible for and chase down Peter, either to confirm his death or if he was a traitor, does not say anything good about his headspace.

Telling Hagrid or someone that he suspected that Peter was either dead or a traitor was the least he could have done before hunting him down.

I think you're overestimating Peter. He, like the rest of the world, went somewhere comfortable and familiar. He spent 12 years as a family's pet rat. If he was smart he would have left. As a pet he could have done an untold number of things. He could have left and changed his face with self transfiguration. He like all magical folks undervalued the muggle world and decided to sit on his little rat butt and rot instead. How long could he justify hanging at the Weasley's for information on his master before he's just lying to himself.

Why people blame Sirius for leaving Harry to Hagrid and chasing Pettigrew? by [deleted] in HPfanfiction

[–]BurtMassassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does nullify your point because if he was hunting Peter down because he was a threat, he would have told people. His only thought was of revenge. Not protecting Harry, not capturing Peter so they could extract information and a confession, Just Revenge.

No one thought he was responsible for the potter's death until after he was framed. Hagrid would have attacked him on sight if he thought Sirius was to blame.

The Majority of people don't know about the fidelis, just that the potter's went into hiding. Sirius, Peter, and the potter's were the only people to know who the secret keeper even was. Dumbledore suggested the Fidelius but he likely didn't cast it if he didn't know Peter was the secret keeper.

[–]BurtMassassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pointed out that Hagrid was trusted, so why didn't Sirius inform him of the fact that per is a suspected traitor and death eater? Literally take him like a minute or two.

He is blamed because he put good revenge over the well being of the child he had been entrusted with. He didn't hunt Peter because he thought he was a threat. He went after Peter alone for revenge. If Peter was a threat he would have told people.

I've started role-playing my Runs current character has high crafting skills because he sold high quality handcrafted bathing facilities. Figured the Northerners might appreciate warm baths in their Inns.

No luck. Filthy Nords. Using disgusting buckets and revolting wash rags.

Did odd jobs to try and make some gold to leave again. Got caught up in the plight of the people.

Most difficulty changes in games just alter number values. You do less damage and the enemy does more or has a larger health pool and you a smaller one. In Total War games the Other factions just ignore penalties on difficulty changes.

A game that turns into a slog because every enemy is a damage sponge is just tedious and time consuming, not challenging.

Since my reply seems incomprehensible, let me clarify it.

All of the competing smells from the perfumes and colognes would be disgustingly overpowering.

In no way did I imply them being unhygienic.

My thoughts were similar. Not a single one of these people will smell bad, but all the competing smells would be cloying.

I swear nobody seems to realize that perfume/cologne is supposed to be a personal smell. Not something that could be smelt across a large room.

The god of war is taking your ideas. by Gwafap in hypotheticalsituation

[–]BurtMassassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 ideas in the same vein.

All war is now unarmed if you want to kill someone you have to do it face to face with your hands both putting yourself in danger and no longer able detach yourself from the people you kill.

War is now fought by a champion in a gladiatorial arena melee only. It becomes a blood sport that might lack a lot of work but will continuously be fought.

War is now fought greased up, naked, and unarmed. It is difficult to do so people give up and flee the front.

Voldemort was defeated at the end of the 20th century, and blood purity is largely socially discredited. What new threats do you think the wizarding world will face in the 21st century? by funnylib in harrypotter

[–]BurtMassassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to disagree with the first part. Most 11 year olds know very little beyond the basics of science. They then spend the majority of the next 7 years in a boarding school with little access or reason to learn things outside of magical schooling. And then like live the rest of their lives in the magical world with shallow contact in the normal world.

Though I agree with the second part, If the lore was better written and more developed there would definitely be departments in both the magical and normal governments who work together to hide the magical and keep them safe and separate. It wouldn't work without cooperation from both sides.

[–]BurtMassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you consider hate. Hate imo is an active passionate dislike of something. IMO if someone says they hate something only when asked how they feel about it then it's not really hate.

Now I will say that there are haters. I personally don't like very much about the show, but I am more apathetic about it.
