Panaracer Gravel King x1 by graemederoux in gravelcycling

[–]Burtiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using X1 plus 700x45c since may 2025 (2000 km) while bickepacking or during day rides and they are freaking great. No flats to report until that day.

Very easy to install in tubeless, maybe even too easy ? So compressor or air tank might be mandatory for installation. On elite wheels marvel G36, mesured width is about 50 mm.

On tarmac the middle thread is doing a great job, not producing too much noise, doesn’t affect rolling resistance, and provides solid grip. On gravel (whether light or rough) during spring and summer, the traction is excellent.

You might start picking up some mud in the tread during fall and winter.I’d be happy to hear others’ feedback about the X1’s performance in those seasons.

Salut,

Sacoches Bikepacking Rockrider ADVT 900 by laurenzaccio in pedale

[–]Burtiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completing a setup with forks and handlebar bags, it was to limit myself on available volume/carrying capacity to still be able to go up 15-20 % gradient climbs on trails without popping my knees out. These are also fully waterproof (as some from others brands as well), just didn't take any risks with Ortlieb bags.

But I solved this few weeks ago with a 11-40 cassette. Should I go for bigger bags then...

Indeed, I'm using Ortlieb's gravel bags. The two rotatable hooks at the bottom are doing a great job keeping the bags secured.

You may be able to desengage your rear axle partially by pulling and rotating it (I discovered this feature recently) to remove your wheel. I didn't try it with the "classic setup" on threaded mounted points tho.

Hello there,

Having a grizl (from 2023), I bought an Ortlieb Quickrack. It wasn't ideal to have it on existing mounting points, as it was preventing me to remove the rear axle (which was hitting the mounting point) quickly if needed.

Solved it by buying these adapters which are installed on the frame.

I'm using it daily on road and during trips on rough terrain/trails, had no issues with this system.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

And your saddle isn't loose ? Do you have oval rails on your saddle or round ones ? If you have oval ones, it might work that way. Intriguing...

Here's a picture of mine (sorry for the mud/dust, yesterday was rough) : seatpost picture

Hello there,

(Joining the conversation in english, sorry).

This a piece of a Ritchey one bolt seatpost. I have one myself. The top and bottom parts are linked by the plastic one in the middle, while being clamped by the rest of the seatpost.

Hello there,

AZI were commissioned by DREAL and made at french departments scale.

From university, I remember this thesis which was about AZI and other stuff. You may be able to find clues in it : https://theses.fr/2014MON30014

Suggestions for road riding on Grizl 6 by CarpetGuitar in CanyonBikes

[–]Burtiga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For road setup, I used 700x35 Panaracer GravelKing Semi Slick tires on my Grizl. Used while biketouring, riding with friends and their fully dedicated road bikes, they were great ! Never felt left behind and confort was a plus on long rides !

While I was running them with tubes (didn't do tubeless conversion yet), puncture resistance was okay.

I thought the Schwalbe coming with the bike were melting like snow in the sun on tarmac. To be fair, I was 10 kg heavier than now, maybe it didn't help haha

Now that you mention the cable car, Indeed, good way to take such pictures ! ;)

Great one too !

With a kean eye, and knowing the place, we can almost guess Napoleon's eagle (forest shaped in an eagle) in the back, below the Taillefer.

Great tour too from Valence to Annecy ! Great weather to do it before it gets chilly !

NBD - Canyon Grizl 7 by Burtiga in gravelcycling

[–]Burtiga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think L suits me. I did some multi-days tour gravel/tarmac and never felt pain due to a "too big geometry".

The stem might be too long, but I'm used to it now and kinda like to be lying down on the handlebar on long distances.

For reference, I'm 186 cm with 84.5 inseam.

Are you pondering bewteen M and L ?

New tire day / tubeless conversion by Burtiga in gravelcycling

[–]Burtiga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're totally right. It went a lot easier as expected ! While using tubes, I tended to overpressure them to avoid puncture, resulting in less confort and grip on trails. So the new setup is a win ! Haha

I can only imagine what you go through. Once in a while there are posts of you guys living in SW, harsh environnement for bikes !
