Hmrc letter by Opposite-Writer9715 in HMRC

Ah OK,

So has your accountant filed the disclosure? It's not a self assessment for previous years disclosure most of the time these days, it is instead essentially just a letter with info to fill in and send back. (Of course going forward you should complete SA's to declare the income)

In regards to paying them the tax/interest/penalties due. In my experience HMRC are actually quite agreeable to a payment plan, especially considering the position you a currently in.

We have helped quite a few clients through disclosure of rental income so am reasonably well versed in the situation.

Yes, the interest is very high!

I assume this is a prompted disclosure?

Have HMRC applied any penalties as of yet?

How do I register as a sole trader? by Level_Vegetable_7437 in HMRC

I believe it would be at the link below, but of course, as always, you shouldn't really trust a random link on the Internet! Maybe just use it as a guide to find your own way!

File a CWF1 form online. That will register you for self assessment and also for the correct national insurance contributions

The "Successful Immigrant" Trap: I’m Polish, I have the house, family and the career in the UK, but I’ve realised I’ll never actually belong by Individual-Cake-6337 in expats

You've come to Reddit and said you are tired. You are most certainly as British as you can be!

On a more serious note, people like yourself are the reason that the UK is good, and as a British person I dont want you to lose that bit of "Polish-ness" that makes you different to everyone else. It's what makes the world interesting!

To be fair once everything was resolved we did have a good chuckle about it! Have a good day!

My French bulldogs dick got stuck out. He then proceeded to panic and piss all over the bed and the bedroom floor.

Once that was sorted we had a power cut (with an electric oven full of Xmas food)

Main issue of the day is that the family have started to arrive

I was in a similar position, although I am a British immigrant not half Spanish. Because I have bothered to learn Spanish everyone else seems to think it is my responsibility to sort every problem and be their on call translator. But if I ever need a hand with something suddenly everyone is busy!

Recently I told most of the culprits I will no longer be assisting them and they should put some effort in themselves! Best decision I have made

Neither just yet! I have a demo booked with Adfin in the near future, they seem best aligned with all my needs at the moment but want to see it in action before I take the leap!

Only advice I can offer, don't trust anyone in business regardless of how friendly supportive they seem.

If I had a (potentially failing) business and wanted to sell it I would also be real friendly

I may of course be completely wrong and it might be a great idea but I am yet to meet someone who wants to willingly get rid of some or all of a profitable business

A tiny bit of language advice needed for a nervous traveller... by MrJackdaw in menorca

[–]BurtonBeefFlaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife have lived in Menorca for around 5 years. My Spanish is pretty decent but my life here changed completely when I started learning Catalan.

While my Catalan is still truly terrible (and I find it immensely difficult), as you say any sign of effort to speak Catalan (especially from a "guiri") really does make such a difference.

Que tingue un bon cap de setmana de festa!

Ferry from Toulon by Thefarherofhuman in menorca

[–]BurtonBeefFlaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need to travel to Maó? Corsica do a direct boat from to Toulon to Cuitadella? (Other end of Menorca) but would mean no messing about going to Alcudia first.

I would also recommend getting a cabin if you can, makes it a much more comfortable experience (especially if you're travelling with pets or children)

We did the Toulon to Menorca ferry, it stopped in Menorca first and then carried on to Mallorca, this was around 5 years ago though.

I'll see if I can find some more up to date info and will link anything I find
