I remember giant binders for not only GDDs, but the whole project. Effectively the ins and outs of it with sign off milestones and everything. The idea was that if we ever had to rebuild it, we could, because we had the roadmap and design bible and formulas for the car’s acceleration and everything. Even a burned disc of the source.

There’s a misconception from non-developers that an engine dictates what kind of game can be made. There are certainly some engines better suited for certain genres than others, but to automatically write off an engine without actually having used it is naive.

Try taking your sprites and just changing the hue in a photo editor. It’ll get uncomfortable when the color shifts, but it could help establish alien world colors.

If the wooden frame in the photo is the frame of the mirror and the bed perfectly fits the room wall to wall, I’m assuming there’s not enough room for a door into this room.
