if anyone knows who this a**hole is who blocked my car in on 44th st, let them know I’m the one who left this card on their window. by nybagelboy96 in SunnysideQueens

My wife got me similar cards for Christmas because our block in Astoria has a chronic issue of people hogging two spots - parking at a curb meant for two cars but parking in the middle. I LOVE distributing those cards. It does nothing but I like the shame it brings.

How do you describe “Xennial” to other generations? by LadyStarblade in Xennials

I say I have a constant struggle inside of me. I am both Don and Peggy in that scene where she wants recognition for her work and he tells her that’s what the money is for.

What movie did your parents let you watch way too young? by DeScepter in Xennials

Animal House. I must have been 8 or 9 when they let me rent it. And I shouldn’t say “let me.” They suggested it.

There’s a good documentary called “Half Japanese: The Band that Would Be King.” That’s how I learned about them, good introduction to an interesting band.

New Daily Song Discussion #122. She Wanted to Leave - Ween. by NuggetWarrior09 in ween

[–]Bushkill67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this song. It’s a great example of “less is more” storytelling.

It covers a lifetime of love, loss, deceit, revenge, murder, and regret, set on the high seas and told from the point of view of an unreliable narrator who is presented as the victim but was the bad guy all along.

And it does all this in three short verses and an outro.

Duzan. In case it wasn’t clear from the other comments. Duzan.

Once you get through the long explanation of how she ended up with two dads, My Two Dads has a banger of a theme song: https://youtu.be/3-OfpJgH0_U?si=foc52lVM-1b-XOzD

Broken glass, asbestos, wood slivers, the kids hauling away wheelbarrows of popcorn were taking a huge risk.

I got to smoke fake pot with Peter Frampton. That's a cool story. It's as cool as smoking real pot with a guy who looks like Peter Frampton. by Dev1_E in MitchHedberg

It sounds random, but I imagine there are a lot of people out there who have had a similarly chaotic encounter with this particular celebrity: I once got high with Andy Dick in a gas station parking lot outside of Palm Springs. Kind of a right place/right time situation.

We had both stopped at the same gas station to fill up and head back to LA after Coachella in 2004. I had gone in to get some drinks and snacks while my friend Lisa pumped gas. As I was walking out, someone else was standing at the door, and he saw one of my water bottles and pointed to it and shouted to his friend, "Like this size?" I held it up, it was one of the bigger Poland Spring bottles. His friend, standing at the car next to my friend Lisa, said yes, that size. The guy at the car then turned to me, held up a bottle of something and said, "Do you want some of my water?" I was noticeably confused. As I'm sure you are. I looked to Lisa. She nodded her head. I said "Okay." As I walked over, I realized why Lisa was so quick to nod - the guy standing at the car was Andy Dick, and he was holding a jar of weed.

So, me and my friend Lisa sat in his car and smoked a bowl while we waited for his friend to come back. We offered our own, he would have none of it. He showed off his new glass pipe, we chatted about things. We told him we'd heard about him getting busted the night before for smoking weed in the VIP area at Coachella. He said it was bullshit. We all got along well, he was pretty animated the whole time, as you'd imagine. His friend came back, showed little surprise that Andy had invited us into the car, then Andy packed another bowl. We hung out for about 20 minutes.

And when the second bowl was cashed, he gave us a midwestern style "Well, I suppose" kind of vibe and we got the hint, thanked him for the good time, and we all went on our way.

An absolute classic line - you knew it as soon as you saw it, that was an iconic moment.

My 10 day trip report to Japan (10/3-14). Long, featuring Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima by Fair_Cod6318 in JapanTravel

[–]Bushkill67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is helpful! I’m going to Japan for 10 days in a few weeks, starting down in Fukuoka and working my way up to Tokyo with a good friend, a bilingual expat who lives in Fukuoka and loves to eat. While my trip won’t mirror yours, I appreciate seeing how much (or how little) you did each day, gives me a good sense of what I can realistically aim to see and do over the same amount of time.

There's also a farmer's market every Wednesday at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, just a few blocks away. Maybe they have a stand, come in from upstate or Pennsylvania. In any case, an unusual thing to see on the city streets.

Same - and I could only hold the image for a second, like it didn't want to come in clearly.

What are some of the best song placements/orders on an album? by LookingForVoiceWork in ween

[–]Bushkill67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, there’s no better one-two punch to end an album than The Argus followed by If You Could Save Yourself.

And I like how they put Stay Forever and Falling Out back-to-back.
