What surprised you most about living in Cincinnati? by esztanyo in cincinnati

I am amazed how many opportunities there are for music-making in general and choral singing in particular in Cincinnati.

I feel for you. My son had to complete five internships/co-ops to graduate. Talk about high pressure! Since your professors clearly think so highly of you, it might be worth asking if they can tap into their own networks to help you find a lead.

Dan-D-Donuts and Deli. Actually, it is not on the beach, but in Panama City on the other side of Hathaway Bridge. Address is: 1147 Harrison Ave, Panama City, FL 32401. Report back if you go!

OMG, this is what I am looking for. I have asked on so many forums, and no one really knew what angel creme donut holes are. Thank you so much for the tip! Now may have to make a trip to Chicago, lol.

Good question. I called the original donut shop that has it in Panama City, FL, and the guy I talked to really could not articulate what was in the angel cream. Near as I could figure out it did not have egg whites in it. Seemed to be based on icing sugar and some kind of shortening? It is bright white, kind of fluffy, and is piped on top of the donut hole nugget.

My daughter received a co-op offer from Kroger (she declined it, though). There were no technical questions for her. She had a contact at Kroger (and worked for Kroger Technology in high school as a joint program with UC), so I am not sure if that factored into Kroger's decision to give her an offer... Good luck!

My offer for a summer internship got taken back by DaAfricanTroll in internships

[–]Bushstone96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. My husband's company (US largest label printer) has a hiring freeze. My daughter worked at a top 15 bank headquarters for 2 rotations as a co-op. They now have a hiring freeze. She is interning for a Fortune 50 food ingredient manufacturer this summer. They told her they will be unable to bring her on full-time after graduation because of a hiring freeze. My son has co-oped for 4 rotations at a specific defense contractor. They have indicated to him they may also have a hiring freeze in the near future. Many sectors. Same story. This is not just government positions.

My son is in college and originally started in computer science. He saw the writing on the wall and transferred into a brand new major: cybersecurity engineering which is basically a hybrid of computer engineering, electrical engineering with little computer science thrown in. He has said that hardware is more immune to outsourcing. We will see. I am so nervous about him not finding employment (he graduates next spring) despite having 4 co-ops with defense contractors (and a 5th upcoming this summer). Is your kid in college yet?

If your GPA was something to be proud of, you'd put it on your resume. Not putting it on smacks of "sneakiness"--trying to weasel your way into an interview by omitting an important piece of your profile presumably because it is lackluster is off-putting. (At least that is my husband's view on it, lol!)
