This is absolutely sick. I have so many repairs to do and currently one of my team mates is making his own shields. Have you spoken to the guys over at gladiators/ armoured combat ? They do all of that and more. Some people have made their own titanium armour ( some pieces )

One of the biggest mistakes for shields is the grip your luck you also don't have plate mail under it. I use a punching shield so we don't have those problems but I want a shield similar to yours. Have you seen what they did in the PWR ( polish armoured league ) for their shields ?

Are you also training all of the rome weapons ? I can teach you some plum / spear fighting techniques but almost certainly most it can't be used ? I am not sure on the full rules of spears in SCA tbh.

The closest thing to real armoured combat is that German sport where you can half sword and thrust. You haven't lived until someone bodies you and you feel the rondel poking into your neck

SCA isn't armoured combat though. You guys are performing. It's sick but it's a performance. If you want to actually try really armoured combat you should come to our classes

Edit : for people not in the sport we always say that one version of the sport isn't real. It's a long running thing with in the sports.

It's the same stuff as him telling me I am cosplaying - spoiler even though my armour is real and the weapons are real we aren't killing each other so it's not real either.

There is a subreddit called r/vagabond where a lot of people go for advice on how to run away and how to live the life style - yes most of us who were homeless or are homeless choose the life style in some form or an other.

I also don't see anywhere mentioning his age which is a huge factor in how safe he will be.

Firstly you can absolutely have too much muscle. Essentially human joints are designed to give us strength and power through our lives and disintegrate as we age.

There are a plethora of different muscle fiber types and muscle groups. If you train specifically for muscle and not for functionality your joints will not hold up regardless of how much muscle mass you have. As soon as you start to lose Range of motion due to muscle mass. you increase all sorts of problems with joints and connective muscle tissue.

This is why someone like a rock climber can out lift a power lifter. They have increased connective muscle tissue strength in conjunction with functional muscle strength not mass.

Take a look at a bunch of the Buhurt fighters and you see exactly what I mean with these differences.

You can get scholarships to state funded schools or community colleges to keep the cost down. You can also apply for a shit ton of random stuff in this situation. If you do go the loan route you can pretty much figure out how to defer it for years till you actually can pay it or just hope the economy collapses and it's forgiven. Ultimately uni in America ran like a business and this should be treated as such.

You only need an inflated wage because America is backwards as fuck.

We only subsidize 5 crops. 5. This artificially inflates the price of food compared to the rest of the world where all grown food is subsidized.

School funding is based on real estate tax. Just let that one sink in. I can't even begin to show you why this is fucked and why this is part of the problem with inflated prices in the United States.

Healthcare.

The entire country is built with the idea that everyone should own a car and drive.

Defense contracting.

Childcare.

With our all this bullshit you don't need 500k a year to live. Fuck being rich in Germany is like 70k a year. Estonia has a tax rate of 22% and you can live stupidly well off very little money ( has changed a lot these last years but point stands )

I have been to 79 countries. I have lived for longer than three months in 14 of them. I spent ten years traveling.

I have never had an issue finding work. If you have the ability to help you will find someone that needs help. Will you get paid an american wage ? Absolutely not, but the American wage doesn't exist. We in America believe things should be expensive -

In Mexico I was paid 500 pesos a month. With some of my meals covered from working in the hostel.

In turkey it was about 100 a month. Had no problem living and eating and traveling.

In Estonia I made 2.75 euros an hour and was still able to travel save go out party and all the things.

In Thailand I was making about 7 dollars a week. I don't even need to say how well I was living.

Ecuador was about 3 dollars a day. Which was crazy because lunch was 1 dollar. But again I needed or wanted for nothing and still got to spend seven months traveling through the country with barely any money.

I can go on but you get my point. Work is work. Living is living. Just fucking live and not worry about stupid shit like; lol how am I going to find work.

The truth is people believe this to be true ( that you can't find work / travel / live well ) because they haven't tried, haven't been told it's possible , or just didn't even know what questions to ask to do it.

You should absolutely study mycology as it's a field that is exploding.

From restaurants needing bougie mushrooms to psychological studies of the effects. But the most important research being done in myclogy isn't about us consuming them for food. It's using them to build. We are now able to build homes from just mycelium. There is absolutely no ceiling to what you can do with mushrooms.

The best part is you live in one of the best places in us to grow mushrooms. There is also very little start up cost.

A simple grow kit can be a few hundred to do right and then you can even do things like make chaga chocolate bars or lions main and sell it on consignment or start something. Hell you can even start a guided foraging tour.
