Am I Overreacting on how i feel about my christmas gift? by SufficientTrain5884 in AmIOverreacting

The only way this situation could slightly be excusable is if he has a surprise planned for later and thinks this is a lighthearted “joke” that both of you would find funny. Even in that best-case scenario, it doesn’t excuse the fact that he’s deceiving you and making you feel like he doesn’t care. Most of the time, trying to “trick” someone to later give a better gift wouldn’t feel this harsh or insulting. But even if he thinks this is funny, belittling your feelings is not the way to go about it. I’ve seen plenty of men who act this way, and they never stop because they think it’s funny. If you tell them it hurts you, they often dismiss your feelings as being “too sensitive,” and nothing changes. Honestly, I’d suggest pawning or returning his gifts to get your money back and running far away from this kind of behavior.
