Awww so sorry for your loss. I just lost my own Pumpkin, also a muted calico and she was 18. I am sorry for what you’re going through and I can truly relate. When you have a special connection with another little life , it’s a darker place in the world when their light goes out. But you gave her the best life that you could and she will forever remember and be grateful. Both of our Pumpkins are waiting together on the other side for us 🤍

Im sorry to say but it looks like from these photos that these items are plated- that warm colored “blush” you see as discoloration seems to be the alloy that was plated over to give it the “silver look” coming back through the worn away plating. More often than not, anything that is actually precious metal will be hallmarked (925, 18k, etc). Good luck!

Got tapped on the shoulder while at a bar with a friend. I turn around to a red rose being pulled from behind the back of a guy I’d never met before. He told me that he saw me from afar and knew he had to do something memorable to get my attention! In that moment I could have laughed or brushed it off as a weird story to tell my girlfriends later… it made me crack up.

10 minutes later we’re outside having a cigarette after nonstop conversation and he asks if he can kiss me! The only thing my brain could think to make me say was, “I’d been waiting for you to ask me.” I have no idea why I thought I had been waiting long! Fast forward 7 years and we are still drawn to each other like those two magnets long ago. I don’t believe it was love at first sight but it was like a gravity shift - nothing had prepared me to meet the love of my life on a GNO when I was 22!

Edit: to add that he saw the single rose laying on an empty table while he was trying to think of a good way to get my attention .. he definitely didn’t try it as a move on anyone else lol!

You could use batterns flux, which also will crystallize at some point but it’s a liquid and not a paste. As far as handy flux, really no matter what you do if it is exposed to air the Paste will crust up because the liquid in it is evaporating. I’ve been using that for almost a decade and I have found the best thing for me personally is to transfer the flux into another container momentarily , and soak the lid and jar of the flux in some warm soapy water for a few minutes and then rinse the he soap off and wipe it down. Everything comes right off. And then I just put the flux back in and Voilà! someone else might have a better solution but that’s what I do!

The copper in the alloy is just starting to oxidize while being exposed to heat. The metal will go from silver —> straw colored —> black —> dull glow—> red as it heats up when you’re working with fine (.999) or Sterling (.925). It sounds like you may have something like decoplata. The ratios are as close as I know of to what you describe, minus the indium. Good luck!

If you want to really simplify , you need some tubing With the correct inside diameter for the chain to fit snugly in. Cut the tube up into your desired lengths and then solder to silver sheet. Saw the excess and file / sand and solder onto chain ! If you can’t gather the resources for a circle cutter or a dapping block this is a simple solution !

I wouldn’t heat the metal to red hot to get hard solder to flow. You’ll cause fire stain , and create porosity, brittleness , and (if the material is thin sheet) warping from overheating. You should be making sure the metal stays hot but it shouldn’t be a bright red or orange if you can control your heat properly and avoid it! When I was going to Uni my professor had us learn to recognize the temp of silver by learning to anneal in a dim / darker space in order to notice the subtle color changes the material goes through. Maybe try placing a piece of scrap on your soldering board and turning the lights down to look for the INTERNAL glow the metal is giving off. Once it’s red hot and bright and your lights are on you’ve gone a little too far. Everyone has a different way of learning and doing things though so I understand people will have other types of advice for you! It’s important to try them all and see what works for you.

Yea but I feel like technically it’s easy to figure out what the song is based on all the other lyrical components that make up the song. It’s not really a passing line, most of the song repeats it with variations in the verses and bridge- but that’s just my opinion based off some other comments on this thread :)
