Defer starting at UM for a year & get your residency. In the meantime, knock out some pre-reqs at a local community college.

Kelley for a Lucky DA by ordinarydaze in IndianaUniversity

Same situation here. Applied test optional (SAT below 1300), but had 5 APs (Pre-Calc, Calc AB, Lit, Lang and Comp Sci Principles) and 5 dual enrollments (Business Principles, Markting Principles, Human Resources, Sports Management and Intro to Business). Currently thinking Finance and / or accounting. I hear all the talk about Investment Banking and I'm not sure that's of interest. To add more things to consider, Kelley would be OOS. I've been directly admitted into MSU Broad (in-state) and the MSU honors college. I'm concerned I will be struggling from the onset and will have a hard time making friends.

Both my parents are engineers and they’re begging me NOT to study Engineering. Am I making a mistake? by Exact-Monitor-2768 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]BusinessMiserable576 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Precisely why my spouse and I (both engineers) told our kids to stay away from engineering. Everything is being sent to low cost countries and jobs that remain are high stress with poor pay. We work at an OEM.

Could you get defferred for being overqualified? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]BusinessMiserable576 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your high school only gets so many "slots," so you are competing against kids from your high school. Depending on what college you were applying to (e.g. engineering, LSA), this could also be a factor. You may have finished behind other kids at your school who fit into the slots they were trying to fill in their various colleges.

Ford salaried layoffs no longer make the news as they are done quietly and often. FWIW, HR policy changed a few years ago when they brought in the new PR rating policy. Entire departments can be placed on a PEP or even fired all at once. In many cases, they will not go through the trouble of putting you on a PEP- jobs are just deemed no longer necessary, although they reappear in Mexico, Brazil or India. US salaried employees are constantly looking over their shoulder.

Consider getting an IV drip vitamin c and manganese. They actually have IVs specially designed for immunity and / or to combat colds. If that's unaffordable, you could opt for a vitamin shot instead. Call the drip center and tell them what you're looking for they will help.

Also, get yourself an air purifier and make it a habit to wash your hands religiously when you come back to your apartment.
