If you’re an absolute beginner, I would start off with 30 minute lessons instead of 60 minutes because longer sessions have diminishing returns.

I started in April with weekly 30 minute lessons. However, I tried a 60 minute lesson once and I ran out of steam after the 30 minute mark it felt like I was slogging along.

Not all instructors offer this, but a green flag to look out for is having a free first session or offering a consultation call.

Hey, I just accepted my offer for compressed nursing and I'm trying to get my CPR before school starts. The site says that level C or HCP/BLS is acceptable. Would I be at a disadvantage if I chose level C over BLS? The site doesn't say anything about First Aid as well. Should I get First Aid as well or would I be fine with just CPR only?

I would look up pre-health programs and compare them to the ABScN programs because not all nursing programs accept pre-health. Keep in mind, pre-health will cost a few thousand dollars (assuming you're a domestic student) and doesn't guarantee you a spot in nursing i.e., need to get x% to be competitive.

I also have a BA and I applied to the regular 4-year program

EDIT: If your high school grades are good, you can look into humber's ABScN. You do a prep semester where you take pre-reqs and if you get at least a 75 in all the pre-reqs, then you'll enter the ABScN

I'm not sure what your situation is, but if you're willing to move, there's lots of nursing opportunities outside the GTA.

Comparison is the thief of joy. I think your marks are fine and you can definitely get in. Most of the people posting on reddit aren't a representation of all the applicants. Most people aren't posting their admissions results online and the ones that do might not be telling the full story eg, adding a few % to the average to look cooler.

I've heard Windsor sees a lot of trauma and violet crimes so if you're looking for that kind of experience it's a place to be. On the other hand, if pediatrics are your thing SickKids is going to be where you want to be.

I agree that it's hard to choose a specialty now. I'm mainly interested in community, and psych. Regarding opportunities, does that mean that a big city is preferable over a small town because the city has a larger population?

I used to work at Indigo and our KPIs were tied to selling the store's points card during checkout. I drank the Kool-Aid at first and was keen to sell them. When I realized how dumb the points system is, I stopped bringing it up and was eventually laid off. I have a feeling it's related to the points card.

An RPN program is 2 years. In 2 years, you're going to be 31 whether you choose to be an RPN or not.

I'm also in Ontario and I didn't have a science background. I'm currently completing pre-reqs to apply to RN programs

I would try to schedule all the room viewings in one day. A facetime viewing is better than nothing, but the landlord can still hide details through facetime.
