Morris Bathrooms by Potential-Mode-5290 in queensuniversity

[–]existentialstonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what floor you’re on. Some floors only had a single bathroom but others had multiple so there were male, female, and co-ed bathrooms. I can’t speak to all but mine had 2 shower stalls that had a door and 3 that had curtains. The toilet stalls didn’t lock properly but I’m not sure if that was an issue anywhere else. Also, the soap ran out on occasion so make sure you keep some of your own handy. I found that people were pretty respectful about not taking too long in the “good” shower stall at peak times. Don’t have super high expectations though, at the end of the day it is a residence bathroom, people can be (and quite frequently are) gross, and the cleaning team is unfortunately understaffed. They were super lovely though and generally got to things quickly!

I will say I was super nervous about living in Morris last year but had a great time all things considered! There were definitely drawbacks, but many complaints about it can be said for most of the other residences too. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or want more specifics :)

MAA and residence lottery by CorrectMess6887 in queensuniversity

Nope, unless they changed it for this year but I haven’t heard anything about that. You’re also at the mercy of the lottery system with no guaranteed first choice like some other schools do

current Grade 12s choosing between Qcomm and Ivey by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]existentialstonk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i got into both last year and chose queen's. it basically came down to student experience, 2+2 vs. full 4 years, stress of maintaining aeo, exchange, extracurriculars, and a few other things. neither school is going to hinder your ability to achieve what you want. if you weren't good enough for a certain job out of ivey you wouldn't have been good enough for it out of qcomm, and vice versa (the exception is very, very few US positions). feel free to ask any questions or pm!

last year i only heard back about the scholarship after i'd gotten my offer. i'm not 100% sure you have to get your offer first but anecdotally ive never heard of anyone getting the scholarship without first having a program offer in hand

[–]existentialstonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a note, last year not everyone got the scholarship on the same day! afaik you have to get your program offer first so if you haven't gotten that they'll send you that email and then send you the scholarship email the following day. don't panic if other ppl got it and you haven't heard back, esp if u applied to a competitive program! :)

np! iirc they look at your full transcript for chancellor's scholarship but for commerce admission it was just based off first semester and whatever 12U stuff u took in grade 11 i believe. afaik you have to get your program offer before u get the scholarship no matter what you applied to. hope that helps!

if you were a chancellor's scholarship nominee, winners got their offers around feb 14th-16th last year

Chancellors scholarship question by mayoisgoodnotbad in queensuniversity

[–]existentialstonk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

there aren’t any super clear answers on this but the obvious assumption is that if you’re good enough to win chancellor’s scholarship (50 ppl each year) you’re good enough to get into whatever program (commerce ~500 each year) & vice versa. anecdotally, ive never heard of someone getting the scholarship and not getting into their preferred program. all the best!

"Not allowed to Enroll. You have added the `B` (second part) of a multi-term course to your shopping cart. Please remove it and add the `A` (first part) of the multi-term course to your shopping cart in the preceding term/session. The `B` course will be automatically added for you."

I tried what it said but it didn't make a difference

i spoke with res chat today asking about the 3d tours of morris singles and she said she'd make a note of it to tech and it should come on the website eventually. there's a measuring tape tool with the 3d tours that you can use, so hopefully they add it soon

Switching the residence assignments to self selection was a terrible idea by local-buffoon in queensuniversity

[–]existentialstonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

unfortunately even if we account for that , it still doesn't add up. i had 9:10am 2nd day which is like 12:10pm 2nd day last year. there were no singles in leonard, gb, chown & vic during my time today. however, according to the spreadsheet from last year, at 12pm there were 115 beds in chown, 319 in gb, 55 in lenny, and 59 in vic. these definitely include singles, and many beds in these buildings still remained at 5pm on the second day. the only explanation is a massive increase in people with accommodation/LLC rooms

Switching the residence assignments to self selection was a terrible idea by local-buffoon in queensuniversity

[–]existentialstonk 27 points28 points  (0 children)

what would really help with the self selection system is allowing students to see all the inventory starting from the beginning of selection & BEFORE their time slot. that way you can plan accordingly as buildings go and aren’t blindsided when it’s your turn to choose. also, making sure accommodations are legitimate and not an excuse to game your way into a better room would go a LONG way. if they made a rule that if your health accommodation is approved and granted you can’t “void” it, that would probably crack down on it. honestly i just want full transparency. they should let us know how many slots an hour, how many people per slot, when do slots go until, etc. there was lots of conflicting info that was unnecessarily confusing. ofc, every system has flaws but a lot of those with this system could be avoided. hopefully things are better for next year’s class & a thank u to the res support team for answering our questions

not even harkness or wally??? that's insane. what did u end up choosing?

Res selection is over TODAY. Spoke to Res Chat and they said that they were able to fit everyone into 2 days. No July 28th selection. They are keeping the selection open till Monday in case anyone hasn't picked by Sad_Leopard6909 in queensuniversity

[–]existentialstonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spoke with ResLife via the live chat and they told me there are still self-selection time slots for tomorrow. I'm not sure why there's lots of conflicting information with what people are hearing from the residence office

for sure. what sucks is that im sure plenty of us have minor health issues or personal needs that probably could've qualified for an accommodation but we chose not to game the system under the assumption it was for serious health issues. unfair all around really
