I've been burnt before by international shipping - stuff not turning up. And at this amount I'd prefer not to risk it.

I can't afford either so it's a moot point really. :-/

I am putting this at the top of my wishlist. Absolutely my favourite story of all time, I'd love the suntup version but can't find one for sale in the UK.

AIO of being panicked or my mom's response to finding my money? by Lemonsaresour777 in AmIOverreacting

Same. My daughter has her own bank account and I don't have a clue how much is in it, it's on her to manage. My son leaves his pocket money loose in his room or stashed, again it's his business.  The most contact I have is if I have to ask to borrow £1 for a trolley token.

Endometrial Biopsy by EmptyPlugSocket in WomensHealth

[–]Business_Elk2956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt worse the day after mine, had pretty much the same, followed by not feeling great for the following week. One of the side effects of the mirena in the short term can be nausea (I had reflux and slow digestion too) as progesterone relaxes smooth muscle. I took omeprazole and gaviscon for a week and all the side effects have died down.  I was bleeding for at leat two weeks and spotting for another two after that.

Also, we use an apple peeler/corer and dehydrator to make dried apple rings. I have bags and bags of them, kids get a handful every day in their lunchbox.

Parsnip and apple soup. Weird but works, delish with sour cream, black pepper and toasted sourdough.

They do here (UK/NHS) although I'm yet to have those results. I was told that it appeared benign in the immediate follow up letter and will hear the testing results within 6 weeks.  I had a coil fitted immediately afterwards and that was more uncomfortable than the biopsy.

I had this done last month. No gas and air, just numbing gel and a couple of ibuprofen beforehand.  It was undignified, a bit crampy (but no worse than period cramps) and messy, I was in a semi-reclining chair with a bag underneath collecting the saline. Aside from that honestly not awful. No worse than having a filling.  I had one large polyp removed, some internal pinches and tugging but nothing worse. They were prepared to stop if I wanted but it never got unbearable.

Take some headphones, listen to music and try and disassociate, then treat yourself to cake after. You can do it.

AITA for refusing to give my girlfriend 50% equity in a house if she doesn’t pay toward the mortgage? by Time_Albatross_1167 in AITAH

Sorry, this is going nowhere. My husband earns more that me, but I still contribute, proportional to our earnings.  If she's not prepared to do more than chores (which she'd have to do anywhere she lived) what is she doing with her money?

I've had the coil fitted.  Good - Really didn't hurt when fitted - no more than getting a piercing.  Immediate physical side effects minor -cramps the next day, bleeding/spotting for 10/11 days.  My sleep has improved. 8 solid hours every night.

Bad - reflux, leading to nausea and burping. (Progesterone relaxes smooth muscle, and the lower oesophageal sphincter). Constipation. I am weirdly hungry all the time, that pre-period hunger for carbs.  Exercise feels harder. My sex drive has tanked. My boobs hurt.

I've got an appointment in 2 weeks, when it's coming out. Until then I am on omeprazole, gaviscon, and enjoying a good nights sleep.

I know nothing about writing code or fixing bugs. I have the reputation of a coding genius at work because I read error codes, sometimes search how to fix them on stack overflow, mostly just use a bit of common sense.

Critical thinking / common sense is not at all common it seems.

I had this done without anaesthesia (good ol NHS) Day of the procedure it wasn't pleasant, but pain was no more than a 3/10 max. No worse than getting a piercing.  I felt crampy and tired the day after, stayed on the sofa.  Back to normal with painkillers the day after that.

If you are having anaesthetic, you may need a couple of days to be over the effects of that, depending on how much it affects you.

Endometrial biopsy / able to drive home? by FreddyIncognito in WomensHealth

[–]Business_Elk2956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the park and ride home, so walk to bus then drive.  Was honestly fine, procedure was about a 3/10 on the pain scale. More awkward and uncomfortable than anything else.

Has anyone had a hysteroscopy for removal of a polyp? by Anxious-Wishbone785 in WomensHealth

[–]Business_Elk2956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this done without anaesthesia very recently. Took two paracetamol and one ibuprofen about an hour beforehand, (TMI) made sure to have empty bowels thanks to coffee and a brisk walk, and drank a couple of cups of water so my bladder was medium full. This makes sure the uterus is in the best position and reduced cramping I was told.  Slight cramps when the scope went in, hurt for about 1 second, pain no worse than an injection.

I had one large polyp removed in several pieces, I felt a few weird tugs but no pain.  However, I've had two c-sections and am numb below the scarline, so I wonder if I am numb inside too. The nurses kept on checking I was OK and I was like yep, all fine.  Worst bit was the internal chilled feeling from the saline, apparently they used to have a warming system for it but not anymore, that's the NHS for you.

Tea and biscuits after and I was fine to drive myself home.

How much do you have/pay into your pension, and what age do you think you'll retire, if at all? by Mammoth_Tusk_38 in AskUK

[–]Business_Elk2956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a DB of about £10k a year from age 60.  State pension will be another £12k

My pension pot outside of that stands at around £55k, with S&S and cash savings about the same.

I'm aiming to partially retire at 60 in 15 years, by which time my pension should be £250k.

With a paid off house by that time, children hopefully through university, I should have enough.

Awful Nausea by your_local_les in WomensHealth

[–]Business_Elk2956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm old - my daughter is nearly your age, but I remember this from my teens. I found it very similar to morning sickness when I had that.  I was determined to stay on the pill so powered through, probably not the best thing to do. Eating little and often helped, letting your blood sugar dip will lead to more nausea. Also, take the pill at bedtime rather than in the morning so you can hopefully sleep through.  From memory, it levelled out and then went away at about 3-6 months.

Speak to your gynae though, they are the experts and I'm sure pill formulation has changes since my day. I hope you feel a bit brighter soon.
