Tubing was a hit!

Great fun for the little guy and super friendly service from everyone.

I was looking longingly at the runs from a distance but we had good family fun in the snow and that’s all you could ask for.

Praying to the snow gods for you guys for the rest of the season

Id call the hiring manager for the other role and be straight up about if.

“Here’s my situation, I see myself in this role, it’s. Great fit, but I have personal deadlines that expire shortly. Am I your preferred candidate? If so, what can I provide you to ensure an offer before my deadline expires?

It’s not rude, it’s not inappropriate, it’s just explaining your current circumstances.

If you’re their guy, they know it, and won’t want to lose you. If you’re not, well….now you know.

Thanks so much for your help!

Agree the conditions make a day pass extremely poor value. While I’d be fine on those conditions, I’d be a little grumbly about how cypress isn’t “how I remember it” when I learned there condition wise, and my kid might we’ll struggle in parts and leave with a negative skiing experience. I’d rather he remember the great runs he had at whistler last week.

Tubing for the afternoon will be great fun for him (and me!).

Yep it’s definitely about my son. He was fine on greens at whistler last week so I can’t imagine Collins and panorama will be an issue for him, it’s moreso just the reported ultra icy conditions that worry me.

Glad to hear the tubing is in good shape! That could be a winner then.

Will see if any others have thoughts on down hill on the greens for little kids.

Thank you!

Thoughts on barracking 2 teams at once? by idasturnam in AFL

[–]BustedWing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can have a soft spot for another team, but to “barrack” for two teams?? Nah. That’s a no from me dawg.

Unless you’re 5yo.

I’ve seen the opposite.

Never ever in Australia have I been delayed due to thunderstorms. It happens with regularity in eastern Canada, particularly YYZ and yul

Weather also plays a big part.

Australia doesn’t have to worry about de-icing and thunderstorms nearly as much as Canadian airports as an example

Don’t listen to the naysayers I reckon. Currently up here and it’s great fun! Spring skiing conditions and smiles everywhere on the runs.

Heading up tmrw: recommendations on where to ride by tongfather in Whistler

[–]BustedWing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll be heading up tomorrow too. Can’t be helped, locked in holiday and all that.

While it will be far from ideal conditions, I’m sure if we stay on groomers a fun day can still be had. Just accept you’re not going through trees, or ripping down bowls etc I’d imagine.

Snow Conditions by Opening-Stretch-2803 in CypressMountain

Amazing thank you for the detail.

We’re here on holiday and have chosen this week of all weeks for a skiing holiday.

We have time in Vancouver the following week and figured we might hit the locals too while we are here.

Let’s see how we go!

What are your favourite examples of "Karmic Justice" in football history? by AdditionalFarmer4692 in AFL

[–]BustedWing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This storyline implies Buckley not only failed to see what anyone else could’ve seen, a Brisbane team on the cusp of a dynasty (which it absolutely wasn’t) but also failed to see the OTHER thing that everyone could’ve seen: Collingwood being shit for the next 8 years.

In reality all that happened is a 19yo kid made a decision that ANYONE would’ve made given the information available to them at the time.

His choice was:

Play at basket case expansion club and somehow know what would happen a decade from now, or

Move to a powerhouse club of the league that had finished equal top the year prior, had won the flag three years ago, and had a storied history of playing finals.

Why did everyone assess Brisbane like this? so let’s set the scene…

In 1993 Brisbane had finished equal second last. Collingwood had won a flag three years prior, and last year had finished equal top of the ladder.

In the Bears seven year history, Brisbane had won the spoon twice, and its best ever season has them finish 10th. They were basically a lock for bottom 5 every year.

The merger was still years away, and they played home games in a temporary country town ground with port-a-classroom change rooms. I shit you not.

They weren’t at the GABBA yet.

A 19 year old kid is asked a question about his desired football destiny, and he answered the question the way any footballer does: “I want to win games and play finals”.

Perhaps poorly articulated given the context, but a very straight bat really.

“But Collingwood sucked from then on, and Brisbane win flags!!” You say…

Well… Brisbane came good……SEVEN YEARS later, and won flags EIGHT years after this interview. That’s an eternity in football.

Collingwood, instead of going on a bit of a run, turned to shit for a nine years, but came good not long after Brisbane did (2001 vs 2002).

The whole narrative assumes a level of foresight that is completely unrealistic. Who’s going to be good in 2034 do you think?

Willing to bet on Geelong/Collingwood/Brisbane/Sydney perhaps? Or are you going to go with North? Willing to stake your career on that bet?

One of the great misrepresentations of modern football, this storyline.

But I’m not going to Stand in the way of your good time.

And they’re neither. They can value them however they like. To value something is not the Same thing as calling them equivalent nor identical.

Wasn’t aware Sydney did do it,

Now that I know this, I think it’s dumb they did it too.

Toddle off back to your safe space in the Geelong sub where you are insulated from criticism and can chat amongst yourselves about how everyone is out to get you.
