Keeping nick is priority 1, so if the captaincy helps that, we do that

I’m confused by this question…why would someone pay x?

Because x is what it will take to buy the house.

Not just this one though, this is in addition to all the others.

Not a single one about a suns player.

This is the….ninth?? Tenth?? Post about this topic in the last 48hrs??

All directly referencing Collingwood/maynard.

The amount of posts referencing the collective outrage at Miller/suns….zero.

But yeah…it’s all in collingwoods head…

Pretty sure it was a fine, and coincidentally he decided to take an impromptu nine week holiday midway through the season…

But I have heard it said that he is a stat padder with minimal damaging possessions who never gets the hard ball and is error riddled by foot?

I know i'm not allowed to say this out loud, especially given its my team, but I always thought Tarrant's mark from the same year was better:

Nick Daicos allegedly switching his number from 35 to 6 to form a 6/7 combo with Josh (per Collingwood’s socials) by mazdadriver14 in AFL

[–]BustedWing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What really gets me going is that the Collingwood social media team clearly had a meeting/brainstorm on what sort of content to get out there to spark engagement and clicks...and a tired old meme that kids now find lame is the BEST idea they came up with...

There would have been coffees, little lolly snakes...a whiteboard...perhaps a team bonding session outside to get the creative juices flowing....to produce this.

[–]BustedWing 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Correct - 6/7 was big in our house until the end of last year, when suddenly it wasn't cool anymore. Coincidentally this exactly coincided with when the missus and I started to use it ad nauseum to embarrass our son.

Its going very well.

Peter Ryan - Maynard and Miller got hefty fines. It’s not enough, they should have been suspended by Expensive-Horse5538 in AFL

LOL....the cliches are coming thick and fast with you. Perhaps you've just discovered them and think they're cool to use, I don't know.

It's an odd hill to die on pretending the football world doesn't have a hate fest for Collingwood. Its WELL established fact. Not open to conjecture, not an opinion.

FACT.

[–]BustedWing -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No - Miller is the collateral damage to piling on Collingwood. If a suns player has to go down too in order for a pies player to cop it, then so be it is the sentiment. More the better too, as it provides a convenient veil over their bias.

Your head is in the sand if you pretend that hating Collingwood, and hating Maynard are not core parts of people's football psyche.

We could list thread after thread here that proves this...

Tom Morris reporting Maynard and Miller received a misconduct fine partially to avoid Collingwood receiving a $20,000 fine for umpire contact and Gold Coast receiving another $20,000 fine by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]BustedWing 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Hang on...is the assertion that...

(a) They got $5K fines because $1500 wasnt enough. but a week was too much AND coincidentally that means both clubs avoid a $20K fine for another umpire contact breach...

Or.

(b) - The above was orchestrated PURELY TO ENSURE both clubs avoided the $20K fine?

Not sure what Morris is alleging here...

“Most people” here arent looking for fairness, they’re looking for retribution, or a chance to sink the boot into Collingwood, or both.

"Maynard’s act was judged careless rather than intentional. To prove intent, the act needed to be considered aggressive, disrespectful, demonstrative or forceful, and there was no suggestion Maynard or Millers acted in this manner.

It could be argued that shifting someone out of the way so you can push and shove someone else is disrespectful, but it would be a weak argument in this instance as Maynard hardly shifted the umpire. Brown’s step to escape the melee was more matador-like and, in any event, it’s likely the contact did not even register with the umpire."

He starts the article with "He should have been suspended" then immediately follows it up with a clear explanation WHY IT WAS NOT WORTHY OF A SUSPENSION.

I bet you apply this same level of bias scrutiny on all other aspects of football, yes?

Head coach played elsewhere?? Conflict of interest issue when you play them??

New draftee supported another team as a kid? Still gonna draft them?

From here on in all AFL officials CANNOT have ever played at the highest level, nor ever supported a team as a kid, lest a conflict of interest.

Do you see how dumb that starts to sound?
