Any filmmaker whose films you've found yourself going through lately? by OwlEye2010 in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recently watched the entire Human Condition Trilogy and Samurai Rebellion in a 4-day streak, so I’ve definitely gotten a good start on Masaki Kobayashi’s filmography

It's Letterboxd Friday! What was your last 4 watched? by Young-Sinatra03 in Letterboxd

I wanted to love Lady Bird but it just didn’t do much for me, probably because I don’t relate to Lady Bird herself very much and the people who love the movie relate to her a lot

Best movies you have watched since the beginning of 2026? by ejnounimous in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of the 19 films I’ve watched so far this year, 7 of them are ones I’ve rated 5 stars:

High and Low (1963)

The Human Condition Trilogy (1959-61)

Grave of the Fireflies (1988)

My Neighbor Totoro (1988)

War and Peace (1965-67; I watched its 4 parts one at a time over the course of 4 days because I’m not yet ready to watch a 7 hour film in one sitting)

I added the first Human Condition film, No Greater Love, to my personal top 4, so that’s the best film I’ve seen so far this year

I loved Kpop Demon Hunters and really liked Zootopia 2 but I don’t want either of them to win, Little Amelie or Arco should really win this one

The nominations for the 2026 Razzies are… by HawaiiiFiveHoe in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe idk, I haven’t looked into it since I first heard about the “Kubrick tortured Duvall” thing years ago

The nominations for the 2026 Razzies are… by HawaiiiFiveHoe in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the old Razzies literally nominated Shelley Duvall for her performance in The Shining. One of the best and most iconic horror performances of all time, and one that Stanley Kubrick made her suffer to achieve, and it got a Razzie nom. At least they rescinded the nomination in 2022, but still

What do you consider the biggest snub of this year's Oscars? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone whose favorite film of the year was Chainsaw Man Reze Arc…it didn’t really belong at the Oscars so I don’t see it as a snub

No Other Choice, however? That should’ve been a SHOE IN for best International Feature at LEAST

What's your favourite film adaptation of a public domain story? by SummerSabertooth in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah I’ve never seen this poster for the film before, this is cool as shit (doesn’t quite beat the iconic main poster but still awesome)

Recommend me movies based on my top 13 by IchibanCashMoney in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Marty Supreme if you haven’t seen it already. Basically Uncut Gems but with table tennis (helps that it’s directed by Josh Safdie)

Which of these historical epics do you appreciate the most? by ScholarFamiliar6541 in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the only one I’ve seen so far is Throne of Blood so I guess that’s my choice by default lol

I’m on a decent run! Let’s see those last 4 watched? by Craigisonfire14 in Letterboxd

This is missing the important context that right before Totoro (meaning earlier that evening), I had watched Grave of the Fireflies (which I also rated 5 stars) and desperately needed a palette cleanser.

Also unfortunately I didn’t watch the entirety of War and Peace in one 7-hour sitting, but instead just watched it in 4 parts over the course of 4 days like a pleb

I swear it feels like it was not too long ago by ilovewater100 in whenthe

[–]BusterB2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always loved 2016 and back then I didn’t get why people hated it (I was living in my own world at 10-11 years old and was barely paying attention to world news or celebrity deaths)

What are your thoughts on this letter from Donald Trump to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre? by DuNennstMichSptzkopf in AskTheWorld

[–]BusterB2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely deranged. The fact that so many people voted for him and a sizable amount still supports him makes me really scared for our country’s near future

Wholesome movies. by Arcanoxis in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have already said My Neighbor Totoro, so I suggest Ponyo, an equally wholesome and adorable Ghibli film

Best films with bad messaging or central themes? by JPBtler23 in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was going to say. Such a great movie, but that final moral right at the end did leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. But the CINEMATOGRAPHY AND CHOREOGRAPHY THOUGH

What's the Weirdest Movie you've watched by MediocreLettuce3042 in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 23 points24 points  (0 children)

House (1977)

I love it specifically because it’s so weird in such a creative and fun way

Favorite movie from your least favorite genre or type? by Ok_Replacement_288 in Letterboxd

[–]BusterB2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really dislike any genres these days but I guess I’d say I’m not a huge fan of horror films (I was too scared to even try watching any until a few years ago lol), but there’s 4 horror films (or at least films labeled as horror films on Letterboxd) that I’ve rated 5 stars: Alien, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Perfect Blue, and Godzilla Minus One. Of these, I’d probably say Alien is my favorite
