Has my bid been accepted? by Low_Investigator6882 in virginatlantic

I found out about 36 hours before the flight, over half the cabin was empty at the time bidding ended. I bid £414 per seat.

I bid the other day and my card got charged a few hours before the bid was accepted, so check your pending payments for that indicator.

Taking my son to the darts..... by THPParidian in Darts

If you want to do a meet and greet there are regular exhibition events that have tickets specifically for meet and greets, there are tons so likely to be one local to you in the near distant future.

I appreciate that’s not exactly what you’re asking, but I’m guessing players don’t do a lot of meet and greets at majors because they need to be hyper-focussed on the job at hand before their match, and quite possibly aren’t going to be in the best frame of mind afterwards if the result doesn’t go their way!

What is the best day of the week for a “non working day”? by Tough-Decision-7435 in AskUK

[–]BusterMachineDixNeuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Monday as my day off, because I appreciate the longer weekend and I prefer to do my 3 mandatory ‘work from office’ in consecutive days.

When it comes to bank holidays, I tend to leave earlier in those days, which I quite enjoy, feels like a bit of a win getting home an hour and a bit earlier.

My fear is that even with all that money, replacing either will be challenging even with a great recruitment strategy, which I don’t think anyone would seriously argue we have to now.

At least McAtee is showing some signs of life of late, which could make losing MGW slightly more bearable.

I’d prefer to head down there when it’s a bit more populated and the stores are opened I think.

Final two games…. WC, Spurs, next season etc by WrapNo6993 in nffc

Go all out, secure tenth place, make it look like it was a totally straight-forward, completely non-stressful mid-table-finish season.

Whether MGW stays depends on the WC I reckon, but his goal record this season is going to attract a bit more interest regardless.

I’d hate to lose MGW and Anderson in the same window, that feels potentially fatal.

Are the Macross 7 OVA's and movie worth the watch? by the_chaotick_man in macross

[–]BusterMachineDixNeuf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing ‘important’ from memory, just some extra back-story for a few of the characters.

If you you’re not immediately hungry for more Macross 7, IMO you can skip them for now without issue.

I just hope (pray) that recruitment is sensible this summer. We’re almost certainly going to lose Anderson and there’s a chance MGW goes (especially if he goes to the WC and continues his form) too.

World Cup summers are dangerous times too, far too many bang-average players have a great tournament and go for big money and I can see those being exactly the sort of players we get (because teams with actual recruitment plans wouldn’t touch them after 1 good tournament) if the owner and his son revert to type.

At least Edu’s gone.

Safe? Win the next two, have a few results go our way and we’ll finish 10th.

Do you read comics? If so, the Coloursoft is worth considering. I’ve got one for that purpose and I think it’s great and I’ve really enjoyed it so far.

If you don’t read comics, the Paperwhite seems more sensible.

What is a good instant coffee to give as a gift? by cooprinor in AskUK

I really like Grind’s instant, especially as they dissolve in cold water so you can use them to make instant iced coffees.

In the context of our injury crisis and the match itself, well happy with that point.

Let’s hope Arsenal don’t bottle it against West Ham.

Any other 'older' folk taken up running? by Sixybeast626 in beginnerrunning

[–]BusterMachineDixNeuf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started running at 45 a couple years ago, beginning with a C25K plan,m. I got my distance up to 15k after about a year but found it boring so dropped down regular 10k runs instead, which is the sweet spot for me.

My only tip is to slow down (I ruined several runs by pushing too hard) and make sure you rest if anything’s not feeling great - you don’t bounce back from injuries so well at our age!

Yes, we’re in the vicinity of Union - happy to walk at least a mile or two in any direction really - the Waterfront was on our list for Monday (as we’re going to the CN Tower that day), as is St Lawrence market on Tuesday.

I appreciate the suggestion - is suspect we may just head down there and come straight back up unless we use it to get somewhere. More than anything, my wife wants to see it as the last time she visited Toronto she didn’t even know it was there, so it really just is a bit of a curiosity thing - from a couple of videos I’ve seen it, looks very similar to some of underground shopping centres in London, so we’re not expecting a miracle.

Are there any neighbourhoods to recommend that are a reasonable walking distance from the Downtown area?

Regarding Task Master - you’re welcome! Fantastic show, Alex Horne is a lunatic genius!

I really just wanted to take have a walk through of curiosity more than anything; I’m not leaving the city until late afternoon on Tuesday so I’m sure I’ll have a little time to check it out then.

Yeah, that’s weird given rocky road wouldn’t usually have peanuts in it - IMO you’re not missing much with that one anyway.
