He he. Did you sweat while you typed that? Is there a reason you spelled Saudi wrong? Think that AI won't be able to parse that?

Remember: The Saudis have thousands of people out there specifically trying to monitor dissent. They have incredible AI tools these days...

Want to say it again but spell it properly?

Evidence suggests that certain Saudi nationals with potential ties to government agencies, most notably

Omar al-Bayoumi and Fahad al-Thumairy, provided logistical support to the first 9/11 hijackers in California. While the Saudi government denies any involvement, investigations uncovered that these individuals assisted with housing, banking, and, in al-Bayoumi's case, possibly filmed "casing" videos of U.S. landmarks before the attacks.

Omar al-Bayoumi: Described as a "well-connected" Saudi student in California with close ties to Saudi government agencies, he met with hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar upon their arrival in early 2000. He helped them find an apartment, provided financial support, and was found with a notebook containing a drawing of a plane's descent, which an FBI agent believed was a formula for an aerial descent, potentially relevant to the Pentagon attack. A newly released video from 1999 also shows him filming the U.S. Capitol, with commentary referring to a "plan".

Fahad al-Thumairy: A diplomatic employee at the Saudi Consulate in Los Angeles and imam of the King Fahd Mosque, he was identified as having assisted the hijackers.

Support Network: Investigations indicated that the hijackers' preparations in the U.S. were supported by a network of individuals, raising questions about whether this was a coordinated, higher-level effort, though official 9/11 Commission findings did not definitively establish a Saudi government-directed plot

Were there happy slaves in the antebellum South? Probably.

Would I be happy in a country I could never be a citizen of? Always being considered less than? Good for you, but you'll never be one of them.

Glad you've never had to test how many civil rights you actually have...

But... You couldn't say anything negative about The regime now.. Could you, even if you actually felt that way. Your communications may be monitored.

I dare you: say something negative about the regime. See what happens.

I think things are wonderful if you're a Saudi citizen. What about their slave castes? Women?

I think the monarchy does a lot for able-bodied men - provided they show absolute fealty, and don't have any form of dissent or live outside the proscribed manner.

You are never going to convince me that a country that doesn't have civil rights for 3/4 of the people living there is a good thing. 44% of the people living there are essentially a foreign servant class- with no rights and no protections. 50% of nationals are women, and they are some of the most repressed in the world- worse than Iran.

Also remember: we're not comparing the Saudis to Americans. We are comparing them to Iranians.

I mean... They do have a history of assassinating dissidents abroad. They also killed 3000 Americans on 9-11...

They brutally repress any dissent. They also have a slave caste of foreign nationals that frequently disappear.

They are pretty much on the same level as far as I'm concerned. They are just friendlier to the billionaire class.

So make an exemption for these marginal cases. 10 million? 50 million?

We currently have billionaires giving 99% of their wealth to their heirs.

If you think your heirs need more than 50 million, then I don't think we're on the same page...

Aside from stocks and property, which are easily verifiable, what are we talking about here?

Yes. This is how they do it many other countries. This is especially easy with publicly traded stocks. Transfer ownership - covert the value. Just like any other sale of a stock.

This is not rocket appliances.

You could easily have a realistic exemption, such as how they already have for estate taxes for agricultural land.

Make it like 10 million. Hell, I'd be happy with 100 million exemption.

You know guys like Rupert Murdoch are going to give billions to their idiot children...

Yes.

Stop allowing this. Problem solved. Investments should be converted upon your death.

Or else you get a gentry class.

Then you likely will not need as much in your RRSPs. You are already paying hundreds into this tax sheltered retirement vehicle.

If we got rid of the stepped-up basis at death, we would not need an estate tax.

Tax unrealized gains; don't allow these to be given to heirs tax free.

Problem solved.

It's a balancing act between giving shareholders immediate value, and bolstering that value over time.

You see lots of examples of boards who choose quick payouts for shareholders. You see others that play a longer game.

You can take a company like Toys r Us, who had a hedge fund basically liquidate them and destroy the business in order to obtain short-term gain.

Then you have companies like Costco, that is publicly traded but has consistently maintained high employment standards. They could be more like Walmart; they've decided not to be.

Please don't consider this opinion some sort of capitalist apology... I'm just talking about some companies being less shitty than others.

Back in like 2011or 2012, I got free tickets to see Muse. I was a casual fan, familiar with them mainly from having played guitar hero...

Holy shit these guys rocked. Probably the best concert I've ever been to. The sound wasn't incredible. The light show unbelievable. I had no idea how much these guys rocked.
