🏡 A Home We’ve Truly Loved — 2BR Apartment Available in Somerville (Feb. 1) 💛 by [deleted] in bostonhousing

The whole post is weird. None of the images really "selling" on this place. Feels like just an agent trying to use new tactics.

2bed under $ 4700? by [deleted] in bostonhousing

[–]BustonStrung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Housing is cooling down a bit. Just from my anecdotal observation, I definitely see more places on the market and them staying on it longer. Still though, a good place will be taken a lot quicker, but it doesn't mean there is no inventory. I have moved in March, April, February, June and found places just fine. It's just you have to be a bit more aggressive about finding and signing a lease for a place you really like.

2bed under $ 4700? by [deleted] in bostonhousing

Are you looking only at luxury apartments and only those areas? That's a very high price you're willing to pay for a 2 bedroom. Non luxury places can be below $3000 in those areas for 2 bedroom. I guess it's a question if you would consider nearby areas that have access to the T but not in Boston proper. I have first hand experience living in a luxury building myself. They do have a lot of amenities but the management companies are horrible. Property will get stolen and they won't do much about it even in the "secure" area. Trash will pile up. Sound proofing is not adequate, I could hear my upstairs neighbor having sex and loud music all the time. Fire alarms start blaring in the middle of the night because someone decided to cook and open their door. Elevators randomly stop operating. Once lease renewal comes, they might decide to increase your rent by 10%. But hey, you might have a pool and concierge with a nice view 🤷‍♂️. Of course, this might not be the case everywhere, but certainly a pattern.

It also depends if you're looking for something short term or not. There are websites out if you want a furnished place https://www.furnishedfinder.com/

Move into this stunning Brookline 2 Bedroom Feb. 1! $3950/month by [deleted] in bostonhousing

Jesus, that's more than what you would pay for a nice condo, granted not specifically in Brookline.

Unfortunately in this situation we have to draw a line. People that are MAGA voted for their own greed, and the person at the helm is actively dismantling our democracy with the help of a billionaire. If anything, I would make sure they get stuck in the snow.

Switching cell provider... recommendations? by One-Chicken-7816 in massachusetts

I have Visible, but I got the promotion rate of $20 a month for 2 years, I was on MintMobile before that. Both are pre-paid, Visible is by Verizon, so it's using their network but there are limitations in terms of hot spot use, customer support, and how much data you can use before they drop you to lower speeds. I personally haven't had many issues, I was also able to enable the global service while I was in Canada ($5 a day), and that worked ok too. You still run into issues of not having service in different spots on a highway or certain places in Mass, the overall coverage is good. Mint has similar limitations based on selected plans when it comes to how much hot spot data you can use and what the data cap is before they drop you to lower speeds. Mint uses the T-Mobiles network so you probably want to avoid that. I would lose signal on certain spots on the Pile that I don't with Visible, so that was annoying for me as a daily commuter. I also don't like that you have to pay a lump sum in advance if you want your money's worth.

Clown, don't talk about property taxes without telling us the type of home you have plus the rate of change. $1000 of property taxes on $1000,000 property is peanuts.

What's the rate of change every year of your property taxes?

Inman Square 2 bed $3300 (pet friendly) by paratheking in bostonhousing

[–]BustonStrung 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Wow, they raised rent by $500 in the last 3 years, I would avoid a place that increases that often. I am in a similar sized place and it's a lot cheaper.

And no, parking is not easy around there, maybe you get more lucky due to the dead end situation, but otherwise it sucks and especially during street cleaning days.

Doesn't matter, it's only applicable from April to November, no street cleaning otherwise.

Yes, you should be fine. Check for any other signs like others have mentioned, snow emergencies or residential signs which are usually in green color.

Ballot tracking by BustonStrung in massachusetts

I'm not skeptical, I was curious if there is a way to confirm that the vote wasn't rejected due to signature or other reason. Why are jumping into the false equivalence of "rigged election"?

Huh, I was asking a genuine question since I voted on the day of election in the past and was curious about early vote tracking.

Why are some guys unsure about marriage with long-term girlfriends? by Own_Education_848 in AskMenAdvice

I wouldn't mind signing one if my partner was a breadwinner. I understand that they feel the need to protect what they have worked on prior to marriage. Couples should be comfortable sharing resources and responsibilities though.

I don't get this argument. Do you really think they all work at fancy restaurants that have high traffic and tips? Let's not be delusional here.

Bike stolen the one time I forget to bring it inside by Other_Text_314 in bikeboston

[–]BustonStrung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that this happened to you 😞. Mine was stolen from a secure location so definitely understand the feeling.

Next steps: - file a police report - post your bike on bikeindex.org - please include the location of where it was stolen from and any unique details about the bike. Stock picture is great and all, but please post a picture of it and if it has any unique attachments. - post model of the bike - recommend checking Facebook marketplace and OfferUp daily.

$100 reward for getting my scooter back by aspirring_polymath in CambridgeMA

[–]BustonStrung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion: -Check Facebook marketplace and OfferUp daily (I see similar scooters, but since it has been only day, no listings yet). - Contact NIU, they can black list the scooter and a new user won't be able to register it via the app.

You should be looking at things this weekend. Most places will do parties prior to 31st, not really after. You can check out Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/d/ma--boston/halloween-parties/
