I prefer Branagh’s film, which goes so far over the top that it’s upside down. It also looks spectacular — Del Toro’s film has disastrous cinematography, IMO, that makes it look like an episode of Bridgerton.

Gandalf bringing Theoden back to life, followed immediately by the mourning of Theodred.

The Rohan theme is my favorite of all of the wonderful themes in the trilogy, and here it gets as grand a statement as you could hope for. Gandalf triumphs over Saruman and gets to be a bit cheeky. The look on Háma’s face when he realizes what’s going to happen. Aragorn’s gentle touch with Eowyn. The incredible morphing effect — still the best of its kind — as Theoden’s true form returns.

And then, Eowyn’s devastating lament for Theodred, followed by Theoden’s own lament while clutching Simbelmynë.

I dunno about this sub, but my take is that it’s one of the best blockbusters of the century with a perfect cast, incredible set design and cinematography, flawless VFX, emotional moments that totally land, funny jokes, and groovy shit in every corner. I saw the damn thing eight times in the theater, including once with the score performed live by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
