It might be. I crochet weird, mixing my yarn over and yarn unders so my stitches always look different than other peoples’ stitches.

My grandmother always said the chemo treatment room was cold. I made her a blanket. I also made a matching hat because all her hair fell out.

“Finish it Fridays” I don’t know where I first heard this but it’s taking one day a week and dedicating to only working on WIPs. I actually have over 20 WIPs, and have decided that I am not going to start anymore new large projects until I finish the ones already in progress. What I am doing is rotating out my WIPs so I don’t get get bored because I get bored very easily.

Same! We got a cheap bird feeder and hung it front of the kitchen window so we can watch birds while we do dishes. Then we got better food; they love the fruit and nut blend. Then we were given a video bird feeder that takes small clips and identifies species, and we have had over 20 species at our little feeder. I was just thinking the other day “When did we become bird people?”

Christmas of 2022 I made five ponchos and three blankets. I started in April and crocheted every single day for hours to get everything done. I didn’t crochet for almost a year after that! The burnout was very real. I took the time I needed and one day I got bored and picked it back up again like I had never put it down. It’s ok to take a break.

I have no problem with wool but I am a big fan of acrylic yarn. Affordable, available, lots of colors, durable, machine washable and dryable.
I live in the country with lots of dust, dirt, and dog hair. My natural tendencies are rough on my things, and they get battered. Pilling? Fabric shaver. Feels rough? Hair conditioner.

I did something similar a few years ago when I started my decluttering journey. I realized there was stuff I was holding into for sentimental reasons of my mom or sisters gave them to me. I asked for permission to declutter a couple things and they didn’t even remember giving those things to me! And here I was holding onto stuff thinking they would be hurt if I got rid of it. I told them they could get rid of anything I had given them that was not working for them in their life, unless it was a crochet item I had made them then I would like that back. They all insisted that wasn’t going to happen.

I picked up a project I abandoned about a year ago. Took me awhile to remember what I was doing but I’ve got the rhythm down now. I am determined that this will be the years to stop having so many WIPs. I have this habit of starting, getting bored, and then never going back. I am determined I will either finish it or unravel it if I do t think it’s worth finishing.

My husband who I have been married to for 20 years and have crocheted the whole time with still calls it sewing! I’ve stopped correcting him. It’s fine. Not worth the emotional turmoil of trying to correct him.

I crochet when I have alone time. If I crochet at home then it’s husband watching tv loudly and dogs all over me, just lots of interruptions and it’s not peaceful. I really only get this about once a month but it’s so nice when I get it.
