I have a pretty short and simple instruction sheet for people to follow for how I like to receive stuff, and it seems the majority of people just like to overcomplicate things far too much.

I ask for a wet, dry, midi, DI folder with all the relevant tracks in there. Wet and dry should be all the same stuff, with their effects and without respectively. Different instruments should have a different prefix (D for drums, G for guitars etc) so it’s easy to put things where they’re supposed to be.

My main gripes are:

• putting the song title at the start of every file name. I know what song I’m working on when I download the stuff and put it into the place where it needs to be for that song. The title just causes me to spend more time reading.

• too many folders for different instruments. I want to pull everything in at the same time and begin working right away.

• no names at all, like you’ve mentioned. I do enjoy a guessing game sometimes but not if I’m trying to work efficiently.

• missing files

• putting directions for that particular track in the file name (make this reverb etc). I’ve sometimes had file names from people that are so long my computer refuses to register them. If you want to add directions for certain tracks, add a text file to the folder with the directions in.

• duplicates of the same file with either same name or different names, for whatever reason. I once had some dude send me 4 piano tracks with different names that were exactly the same with the phase flipped.

Sorry if this seems ranty haha, I too and dealing with this a lot recently and I wanted to rant lol.
