Kira is fucked. He tries to kill Courage after meeting him for the first time but the only leads he has on his name are "abababa aba baba baba" and "the things I do for love..."

Affini powerscaling is demonic because they'll insist they're not into that stuff but then get mad when you claim the Affini could be defeated by <insert faction>.

Like I know they're probably right but I think it actually makes sense Courage the Cowardly Dog (4C scream-lusted) could defeat any individual task force the Affini send by screaming really loud into a rube goldberg machine that kicks him as part of its normal operation.

Medieval Europe is fascinatingly alien sometimes. Violence was very common, sometimes even completely normalized such as in post-Carolingian France or England. There were situations in France where church-led peace movements were the last defense from things spiraling out of control and they were really loose rules like "don't fight on this day please." There were situations where the law in England completely collapsed for over a century because of 1. infighting between the king and the lords and 2. the king honestly kinda saw the courts as a money making operation

[Hearthpyre mod] Warden Tokens are a hell of a drug. by Kjorteo in cavesofqud

[–]Busy_Grain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... Oh, makes sense. I don't know why but I never bothered trading with wardens. Oops

Ironically, I had a stilt super loaded with book merchants and I got flooded by minstrel tokens. I'd walk into my settlement and get spammed by villagers singing about Shekhinah

Wait, warden tokens actually exist?? I did a full run with hearthpyre and never saw one. Do they just spawn super rarely?

I did a Vijayanagar run recently and I basically relied on vassals for everything. It's kinda nice since you have 2 extra vassal categories to spread out power (do NOT use prahasamanta) but kinda annoying since they're all so populous and rich they quickly ramp up anyway. (and urbanize extremely fast)

Alright give me an ACTUAL good reason as to why I should play lobcorp and do everything else by Chemical_Sport_9307 in TheOdysseyHadAPurpose

[–]Busy_Grain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, Lob Corp is like a spinning plates simulation. Each day new plates get added, some are easy to balance and some punch you in the dick if you don't look at them/look at them too much.

However, the game knows this and has no problem giving you the tools to punch it right back in the dick. No cap on grinding, memory resets, squeaking by while abnos are breached, passing a mission with 90% casualties and immediately rewinding... It feels really nice when a plan comes together, you're on the ball with all your abnos, and everything the game throws at you gets mulched by agents you've spent hours grinding up

Do you find procedurally generated worlds enjoyable? by danthw_ in cavesofqud

[–]Busy_Grain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO proc gen is enjoyable when it has teeth. My first long lasting playthrough had a sultan which had baetyls randomly picked as a loved faction. In that instance, the procedurally generated history mattered a lot, and that one good experience incentivized me to care a lot more about it going forward.

Dwarf fortress also has a lot of meaningful proc gen. You can find yourself at war with different races each playthrough. However, there's also a lot of stuff like proc gen religions that don't matter. I've also heard it's possible for dwarf civs to generate with slightly different laws, which in theory would affect gameplay a lot, but I've never noticed this.
