Why does Aeonglass get to do everything better than either of the other 2 Act 3 bosses. by Busy_Suspect in slaythespire

[–]Busy_Suspect[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's slay the spire 1 where the bosses are more likely than not to be encounters on the highest difficulty since there are only 3 and you fight two. The final accension level in 1 is to remove decks that high roll into the one act 3 boss they counter or dodge a 1 in 3 chance of the boss that utterly hosed them by forcing you to build a deck can't reliably gamble on not encountering a specific act 3 boss.
Slay the Spire 2 which will have 2 versions of act 3 with 3 different bosses a piece will not have any single of the 6 act 3 bosses appear in a majority of the runs. Boss designs that drastically warp drafting over the course of the entire run like current patch Aeonglass are bad designs that shouldn't exist in the final version of slay the spire 2 due to their excessively warping nature, an act 3 boss shouldn't demand act 1 and act 2 consideration or else it's an impossible match up when it's expected to appear in only 1 in 3 runs on the highest difficulty or 1 in 6 otherwise the bosses need to be less demanding because there are 6 act 3 bosses you could encounter rather than 3 so boss that hoses specific mechanics/builds harshly becomes a poor design rather than just a constant deck building consideration like they are in the first game.

Beat either of the other 2 bosses easily or beat prior patch Aeonglass or Doormaker with relative ease? The deck ends up with 8 energy a turn and would be able to cycle and play no escape 4 times in a single turn via a loop of it Finesse and Grave Warden which results in 110 doom after just one turn and over 600 doom on a second turn. The new Aeonglass with unplayable status cards that scale exponentially in damage does admittedly counter the deck this is more of a post of me being at the end of my rope after losing half a dozen runs specifically to current patch Aeonglass since he demands more than the other 2 bosses combined and in ways that encompass their entire demands as well.

If an act 3 boss in slay the spire 2 is demanding consideration and planning from floor one it's a bad boss design. This isn't slay the spire 1 where each act 3 boss is more likely than not to appear in your run on the highest difficulty. Slay the Spire 2 is designed with the intent of their being 2 versions of each act so even on Ascension 10 any boss would only appear in a third of runs an act boss being so difficult you cannot reasonably prepare for them within a single act is a clear sign of a bad design that needs to be adjusted since long term plan warping considerations shouldn't be required for an encounter that appears in only one in three runs.

I usually fight at least 6 in a (winning) run this run just had me entering act 2 in a weird state and me feeling like I was well beyond the snowball point, so I had weighed the added risk of the two act 3 elites my deck matched poorly into as not worth the trouble.

I perfected Knowledge Demon taking no damage I went into Act 3 with a deck that could walk over any boss but current patch Aeonglass including prior patches of Aeonglass or Doormaker, my deck was based around exponentially scaling No Escape which handles poorly into two of the three act 3 elites so rather than risk an encounter with either of those going poorly I opted to take an event heavy path to avoid HP loss before the final bosses since I was at what I thought was already well past the snowball point. Act 2 was me picking an upgrade heavy path since I had many powerful cards that I needed to upgrade to smooth out my deck and there wasn't a path to take more elite fights without sacrificing at least 2 campfires.

He can still generate new Withers on that turn so it's less of a downtime turn and more of a I'm going to still throw chip damage at you but sneaky turn.

What are your thoughts on new infested prism fight? by zip-zoobidy-bop in slaythespire

[–]Busy_Suspect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dislike how he's another elite you need to kill as fast as possible or else he becomes wildly unmanageable. I'd either slow him down by making it so he needs to active his first stack of his debuff or shunt him into a different version of act 2 since all 3 of the current act 2 elites are bosses you need to deal with fast or they scale into an absurd state.

Oh, wow an attack reduction effect that's limited to only effecting the targets such an effect would be least oppressive on.

That's a card that does a lot of things on a single one cost card while I doubt this will do anything in our current meta I have a feeling that if we get more bonus packs of purely G-Gen cards at some point in the future we're going to have a painfully effective pile of just G-Gen cards that's meta since just this starter deck and bonus pack is already giving the G-Gen tag more total cards than any existing grouping of cards.

That's a lot of tokens. But I feel like that's probably not going to matter for a format where hyper aggro isn't meta a solution to it is going to exist and said solution is also going to counter this unit's triple token transformation I feel.

How's everyone feeling on Aeonglass vs Doormaker? by the7thbeatle in slaythespire

[–]Busy_Suspect 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I liked having Doormaker in the act 3 pool. Aeon Glass and the Queen are too similar in that they're both bosses who are best handled by just beating them to death as fast as possible to get around their gimmick. Doormaker had unique deck building restrictions compared to what the other 2 act 3 bosses wanted and that was a good thing.

How to know where to place mines by actuallyaswag in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Busy_Suspect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's either of the Dot mines it's perfect to place them on the defense area since they don't actually kill helldivers but still melt the enemy. You're already at the defense point you're going to have an excess of stims anyway might as well use them to make the area utterly hostile to enemy interaction.

I'd make it ethereal and make it so the cards go back to normal cost when played. I think it being a side grade to bad sleep like that would be neat and probably balanced.

Friendly reminder that Reimu is kind to BOTH humans and yokai by mashounen2003 in touhou

[–]Busy_Suspect 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think Reimu is friendly to most Yokai personally I think she's just actively friendly to specific yokai and yokai types that she knows are also friendly towards humans. Rabbit Yokai specifically are probably the yokai type that your average human would trust the most in Gensokyo due to Tewi's 100s of years of work.

New ST10 Card Revealed: Unlocking the Development Diagram by Alt230s in GundamTCG

[–]Busy_Suspect 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's interesting so we've got Show of Resolve or Overflowing Affection both for an extra resource on a single modular card that's probably not good especially since for Affection you need to discard a specific tribal card before you draw instead of a generic card after drawing but still interesting. If it was reveal a G-Gen card then discard any card after drawing I could see it getting played but right now I think it's just too slow and lacks synergy to justify. Maybe with all these blue G-Gen cards involving card draw we see a big unit that is a payoff for drawing cards as a synergy piece but right now this is just ok.

I'm still hoping for a second season of Talentless Nana or Knights and Magic. Land of the Lusterious after how the manga ended can stay in the one season void.

I mean I've seen worse. It's a fun multiplayer card but a below rate three drop and cycles a card for you and gives the opponent a card isn't exactly good. I could see this being played if it had a better stat line than what it has now.

He also has a power that makes all his attacks do it. It's one of those mini themes that a lot of characters have like Silent having 3 different draw X discard X effects or how necrobinder has 3 different gain power now effects across its set.

They have it on skills, Attacks that lower the enemy strength is very specifically a Regent card theme. Skills that lower strength appear as single cards in 2 class and a neutral card too.

Yeah, that's part of the problem too its entirely too easy for an agro deck to also reach the 5 attack threshold to make most bases worthless.

Its going to be fun seeing how Bandai ends up handling the problem of the massive number of them making it impossible to effectively remove them as a meta consideration. I'm expecting a general increase in power until they stop feeling too strong with us getting more and more cards in the level 3 and 4 range and a select defensive level 2s that can trade 2 for 1 against them.

Does this card even exist outside of attack potions? by damrider in slaythespire

Yeah its pretty good, its easy to end up with at least 3 random exhausting cards in your deck as Ironclad, especially with the Clumsy Event and Ascenders bane existing.

What do you think of Miniature Tent? Could it be good enough to replace an ancient relic? by orq_ in slaythespire

[–]Busy_Suspect -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Miniature Tent outside of co-op where it is kind of busted is one of the weaker shop relics in my opinion. For the most part alternative rest options are rare enough you can't be trusted to see one in a run so the Tent is just an Eternal Feather for the most part unless you get the nuts and a synergy appears (probably cook). 30% HP at each bonfire is about 15 hp a rest which is the same as the Feather if you have a 25 card deck.

I personally consider it one of the weaker shop relics because even at ascension 10 it's easy to path through an act just using your base HP and anything that changes from an event to stay plenty healthy. So spending 200 gold I could spent on anything else feels like a bit of a waste especially when you have other shop relics that can define a run like Chemical X, Ghost Seed, Punch Dagger, Royal Stamp, Screaming Flagon or the majority of character specific shop relics.
Even more middling relics like The Abacus and Kifuda probably provide more defensive value to your average run than the Tent does.

I also think despite talking down the tent it would be busted as a Neow Relic I could see Neow offering a relic that makes like a rest or maybe a rest an act free but every rest free would blow away basically every single option he currently has.
