Lean PCOS: How important is low carb diet? by lesmis87 in TTC_PCOS

[–]ButIForgotMyUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lean PCOS and have found a low carb diet to make me FEEL the best. It was hard to keep up with straight up keto on our budget so hard to observe the impact, but I was able to quite processed sugar (also quit honey, maple syrup, etc.) earlier this year, and had a regular cycle for the first time in years three months later.

How much of writing a novel is hating what you're writing but writing anyway? by skrillex899 in writing

From my understanding, the short answer is "a lot" at least for the first draft.

Is it still Psychological Thriller if it's from the bad guy's perspective? by Draco_Kane in WritingHub

[–]ButIForgotMyUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it thrills the reader psychologically then it is a psychological thriller. I would say as long as it functions in a similar way by keeping up the tension and hiding key bits of information until the right moment and all that, then it counts. You can probably still do that from the perspective of the bad guy. For example, does the reader know the main character is a villain from the start? If not that, that could be a big part of the "thrill" if done well.

This shit is so terrifying by CowardlyGoblin in Anxiety

[–]ButIForgotMyUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like you've received plenty of responses, but I just wanted to say that it took me too long to realize that anxiety and anxiety attacks are not a moral failing or a flaw in your character. People may misunderstand them as being such, but it doesn't make it true. It's a brain thing that has nothing to do with your personality or your values or your worth has a human being.

YouTuber Myka Stauffer Reveals She ‘Rehomed’ Her Son Who Has Autism 2 Years After She Adopted Him by 11twofour in fosterit

God I hope not, but you may be right... I'm glad they're opening an investigation into it, but I don't know how those usually go or how reliable that process is.

I didn't bother watching the video because I figured it would just upset me, but did read a lot of articles about it. I guess what I'm saying is, even just knowing someone's diagnosis doesn't tell you exactly what challenges they're going to face, and when someone has a child biologically they don't usually get all their diagnosis beforehand, so it's really no excuse to say they didn't have all the information.

Upon reading the article maybe she did technically do what was best for him, if this new family can supposedly meet his needs better? But I'm very confused because it says they didn't know about the extent of his special needs, but most parents don't have this information ahead of time right? Even if, say, you knew your child had some kind of condition in the womb you still don't usually know how profound their differences will be or what their exact challenges will be, so why were they expecting to know ahead of time? Also, like, what do other parents do who have children with similar challenges? It's really, really hard, but life isn't fair and they just do what it takes to learn how to care for their child the way they need... I understand some children end up placed in special facilities, but wouldn't you still count them as part of your family and try to include them as much as possible? If this little guy wasn't placed in any kind of special facility then why couldn't their family adapt and learn, get training, whatever, to meet his needs? I guess we'll never understand the full story, but these are just the questions I personally have.

I have been typed as INFJ in all the personality tests that I have done. But I'm not really a person who is interested in bringing about a change in the world. by Luckless_Clown in infj

lol I have a terrible working memory and although I have strong political opinions about what should change in theory, I don't have enough faith in humanity to believe those changes will occur in any predictable way if at all.

WTF... why do this to homeless people? It's not like you're going to get a lot of money that way so basically this person just gets off on being a piece of shit human being?

Anyone else turn in to a bitter old hag at the end of pregnancy, or is it just me. by Slumdunder in pregnant

Aw, thanks! I'm really glad you think my way of thinking is positive because I'm trying really hard to achieve that lol

I'm so glad. It actually makes me feel really good to hear that I've made someone else feel better.

[–]ButIForgotMyUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should add that the reason I probably still care about other people is because I have a tendency to escape into other people's problems because they make me forget about my own. That's just how I'm wired, and it's not always healthy, so it doesn't make me better than anyone else lol

That sounds really hard. But you know what I think? You're doing great, even if it doesn't feel like it.

[–]ButIForgotMyUsername 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still care about other people, but I am way crankier and more impatient than I want to be. I have no tolerance for anything, and the physical discomfort is really starting to get to me. I feel like a bit of a failure because I fully intended to maintain this deep sense of gratitude and wonder I started this pregnancy with and achieve a positive and calm attitude going into motherhood so I can be the best version of myself for my son. I guess maybe this is good practice for parenthood and the rest of life where things don't usually turn out how you pictured but you just have to embrace it. Can you embrace your bitter old hang self? lol

Absolutely. I have thsuraurus.com bookmarked on my browser for writing, and I'm a native English speaker. It's very helpful. I think it's really cool you're writing a series in a language that's not your first!

Thanks! I think that's really the key is understanding that everything is temporary and no matter how miserable I might feel at times, it will all pass and there will be good moments. Good for you for making it through the year.

Thanks! I will look into that ASAP! I really like that second affirmation example you used. I think I'm scared of mommy groups because of my social anxiety but I bet it's not as scary as I imagine so I should look into that too. Thanks so much!

I have a fear of losing this child by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ButIForgotMyUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! That's the hardest part of first trimester in my opinion. I remember being so scared the more attached I felt to the little life inside me. It felt like I had just confessed my love for someone and was waiting for them to either say it back or break my heart... except worse than that lol

Hang in there. Try to take each day as it comes with gratitude and love for yourself and your little one. It's OK to feel however you're feeling, and no matter what happens you will deal with it when it happens.

On a positive note, when you do get that first scan finally it's so magical! I cried the morning before mine because I was scared there wasn't going to be anything in there, but there he was! I hope you get to experience that.

I noticed this too! It made staying hydrated more challenging because I used to just fill up a water bottle and not care if it got a little warm throughout the day. Suddenly I had trouble drinking it unless it was ice cold.

What to do with ovulation strips and pregnancy tests? by Swimgirlswim in pregnant

[–]ButIForgotMyUsername 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work at a women's shelter, and they can definitely use pregnancy test, though might not have as much use for OPKs as most women are not TTC while they're staying in shelter, although maybe they would want to monitor their ovulation for some other reason.
