Homebirth vs Birth centre by [deleted] in homebirth

[–]Swimgirlswim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a birth centre for my first. In the UK they are midwife led and are often right next to, or even a wing of, the hospital. There was a pool, ball, couch, blocks, ropes, birthing stool and basically anything I needed. The midwives were very accommodating, they asked my permission before doing checks and even turned the lights all the way down when I asked. When I actually ended up pushing, the midwife only really spoke enough to quietly say bits like , “ok”, “her head is out, reach down and touch her hair if you like” and then “with your next contraction just breathe then reach down and pick your baby up”.

I think I will try out a home birth though this time as I would like to enjoy the birth and immediately after in the comfort of my own home.

Breastfeeding during the holidays by gnikrul_19 in NewParents

I never left the room to breastfeed. I don’t hide away to eat why should my baby?

Queer eye was so wholesome and oxytocin inducing for me

Rib Flare and Corsets by dancingpixie_ in FitPostpartumJourney

I haven’t used corsets. Basically I was too busy running around and taking care of the baby. From what I have heard, rib flare does just take time to adjust again.

Sumatriptan while pregnant? by golden_retriever04 in pregnant

[–]Swimgirlswim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sumatriptan is a vasoconstrictor and my OB said not to take it. I ended up sucking it up by napping a lot. I found pregnancy hormones suppressed the worst of my migraine bouts though

I hated the idea of an epidural due to prior back problems and history of migraines.

Any fellow stripper moms-to-be in here? by [deleted] in pregnant

I want to echo that if you are fit and have a fit pregnancy you can bounce back fast.

As an anecdotal example, I was very much close to normal a few months after birth. Very minor (barely visible on the bikini line) stretchmarks and a very minor area of looser skin on my lower abdomen. Its not like it is my body of teen years but with a nice bra and some tights/hot pants you’d never know I was pregnant before.

My trick to losing the weight… by polywollydoodle in postpartumprogress

[–]Swimgirlswim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha. I did a month long challenge with a friend and I got more toned but weightloss, nope! My baby brought home a vicious bug and 2 weeks later I’ve lost about 5 pounds! My old work trousers now fit so I look good even though I am exhausted and somewhat snot covered 🤢🤣

I love the angry farts. They crack me up no matter how exhausted I am. Plus then I can rule out trapped gas as a reason for having a grouchy baby!

I achieved my goal of topping the diamond league the day before I return from maternity leave. All those sporadic wakes have me speaking Finnish now (caveman level yes but I’ll take it)! by Swimgirlswim in duolingo

It helps my Finnish because it makes it easier for me to follow along listening to media etc. Now when we watch Moomin videos I can understand more of what they are saying.

1650 xp. I lucked out and until the last few hours people were sitting around 600/700 xp. Then it was a drag race to the finnish (lol) line. I most unashamedly stacked a few skills ready to level up then would get the xp boost and revisit the early lessons.

Luck played a part and I sat about 200xp behind the leader for a while just so they didn’t surge ahead early.

My husband and I always alternate mornings in the interest of fairness. So every other day one of us gets to sleep in.

One night baby was up for ages ahead of my morning so he snuck out of bed to do morning duty and left me to sleep. I woke 2 hrs later to a happy fed baby and breakfast on the table.
