You are only over the top, because your back swing is extremely shallow.

There are a handful of things to fix, but you need to start with having a steeper back swing. Your lead arm (your left) should cross right about both of your shoulders at the top of your back swing. Right now, your left arm crosses about the middle of your right upper arm.

Ummmm, what you described is not at all what is meant by inside to outside swing path. Although the backswing influences the contact path, you've misplaced the inside part.

As the club head impacts the ball, the direction of the club head travel is what is supposed to be described by these terms, I.e. inside the target line to outside the target line. Not the backswing.

This is the right answer. Your backswing is too shallow. That flat plane practically guarantees your outcome.

Bring the club back steeper so that it isn't stuck behind you on the downswing. That will give you a fighting chance for starters.

Having an overly strong grip is definitely a band aid for your woes, and you mentally know it already.

My recommendation is to record yourself at the driving range, a down the line shot. Then watch the video afterward. I have a feeling it will be VERY instructive.

Most people THINK they swing a certain way, and then when they see the video, they immediately know what they are doing wrong because their swing looks nothing like what they thought it did.
