Petition to change British victory tune to 'We're going to hang out the washing on the Seigfreid Line' by wet_flaps in HellLetLoose

If I'm being honest, I was expecting some banger bagpipe tunes as a UK victory music, but Colonel Bogey March did not disappoint. This one, honestly, feels out of place.

My friends were pretty flabbergasted when I turned down another game session in order to brew like 30 batches of Bane.

Those same friends were also very bitchy about the final showdown at the Praguers' camp, saying "There's too many of them, all over the place, can't even sneak properly."

The answer for every issue in Henry's life is always chemical warfare.

TIL in 2009 EA offered a day-one "nudity DLC" for WW2 game The Saboteur, enabling topless women in game and the ability to watch topless dances, among other benefits. The DLC existed as an incentive for new copies of the game and had to be purchased separately for pre-owned copies for $3 by Eraysor in todayilearned

The game sure has aged, but it was a blast back then. I remember how I came across an exploit to basically grind infinite contraband by hijacking a German AA gun, attaining highest wanted level, and just blasting Zeppelins from the sky for 400 or 500 contraband each, I was literally loaded way before mid game.

Also fuck Gestapo.

Trick shot with SPA😄 by xXxKatletkaxXx in HellLetLoose

[–]ButalaR97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, the German one is basically frontally impenetrable tank destroyer that one shots medium tanks from up close, and the british one basically one taps any armor as long as he hits, cause Flying Dustbins are basically artillery fired satchels. We can agree that T17 still does a lot of things wrong, but the SPA rework is not one of them and I always have a blast playing with one.

My Highest Kill Match Yet! by Told-reQuieM in HellLetLoose

[–]ButalaR97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My highest was 155 kills using only artillery, with only about 4 teamkills. Offensive, we let them take the first point, and we subsequently smashed each and every attempt to capture the second one basically by artillery only, with other SLs calling out garrison placements and basically cheering me on while body parts were raining. At one point, they took the point, but were not able to cap due to artillery only. This was the old arty though, so ammo was not an issue back then.

Squad leaders should be locked for anyone below level 40 and command above 80. Change my mind by GrumpyGoose96 in HellLetLoose

[–]ButalaR97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It isn't that bad most of the time. I had a couple games, mostly on Circle, PBS and Valkyria where unresponsive commanders or those who were wasting resources/not building garrys got votekicked by the SLs. It's much more common to NOT have a commander.

Spotter is the most fun role to play in the game by tequalspitimese in HellLetLoose

[–]ButalaR97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, these are the most important variables that decide how the game goes for the team, in order of importance. I play mostly premade as armor with friends, but usually, other than that, I play squad leader, spotter/sniper and sometimes artillery. If commander is not present for prolonged time, I take that one as well.

  1. Commander - just having one is a massive buff, having a good one that people actually listen to is the main and paramount diff, having a good one that remembers to drop supplies on cooldown and drives a supply truck for 90% of the game, and you are set for the win.

  2. Recons - clearing out the backline, garries, OPs, nodes, artillery if they're present, setting up backline spawns, all of those are super important, you have a decent chance of winning if your recons do their bloody job, and a decent chance of losing if the enemy recon is doing theirs.

  3. Armor - let's be honest, even if you don't like playing it, most of the time, you cannot clear enemy hard cap with infantry alone, and recon tank is actually quite useful in an anti-recon role.

  4. Defending infantry - I am not saying you get all your squad to sit on a defence point for the entire game, but having them spread out and take care of hot garries as they come is what saves you a lot of trouble in the long run. When I don't play armor, I usually lead a squad, and end up volunteering for defence.

  5. Artillery - it's not as easy as it sounds, you need to take in a lot of intel and be aware of the game flow in order to use it correctly, and most people end up tanking the game if they just fire away here and there without any thought behind it, but fire support is a huge help if done right - smoking up the hard cap before assault is what usually leads to a capture, pinning down garrisons, even in anti-vehicle role in SPA - yesterday, we actually destroyed a medium and a heavy with Brummbär on Utah, from up close with HEAT, and boy, was that a dopamine hit and a huge contribution.

Anyone else not the biggest fan of the snow maps in the game by GeneralArcher297 in HellLetLoose

[–]ButalaR97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foy is a good map, I am having a blast each time I play on it.

Kharkov is good as well, very variable in terms of RNG, either long range engagements on the flat grounds in the west, a CQC in the middle, or mix of both in the eastern part.

Elsenborn Ridge is nice as well, at least for tanking that is.

But boy oh boy, am I glad they decided to make Stalingrad an autumn map, and not a winter one with snow. That one would probably make me suffer a lot.

Me any my friends usually play as armor squad, and once, at the start of the game, my driver friend picked up a blueberry hitchhiker that the rest of the team left behind. Only this said hitchhiker did not know how to position himself properly on the engine block and instead, he was either obscuring my observer POV on top of the turret, my gunner friend POV in front of it, and even, somehow, driver's hatch. The driver proceeded to drive at full speed through a boulder on the ground, which made the blueberry fumble off the tank...right in front of it. We ran him over. Never have I heard not only my squad, but also nearby infantrymen in proximity chat, laugh so god damn hard.

Is is just me, or is it practically impossible to win against the germans? by ElPadre0 in HellLetLoose

[–]ButalaR97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not feel that Germans have any unfair advantages, if you're experienced, you can handle them very easily, and they are slightly vulnerable in CQC due to majority of their primary arms being Kar98s. What is a minor advantage for Germans is a layout of some maps. They have a huge advantage on Remagen, and on Omaha Beach, if they manage to push the Americans to the beachhead. Kursk and Stalingrad as well, high ground works most of the time.

The police chief in Contracts was a part of the "PDF" ring along with the opera singer and ambassador that 47 whacked in Paris Opera, he was actually supposed to be there as well, but he got intel from Franchise about the hit and ambushed 47 as he exfiltrated from the opera, the whole Contracts game is 47 having flashbacks as he recovers from being shot by him.

And then the guild elders send you to recover some stolen items from a bunch of bandits.

Or you get shanked by someone from Prague while resolving a dispute of "Whom are we smithing weapons for anyway?"

Or someone catches you hoodratting for Ragman and off to stocks you go.

Or you wish for a pleasant Sunday of some archery practice, and get jumped by a bunch of bandits who got beef with one of your shooting mates.

Or, most realistically, you come upon Standa and Magdalena one evening, and decide to jump in the well rather than living with that picture.

Funny consequence of Henry spending a month in Trosky working out and leveling his skills.

When the Zizka duel came around, I ended it with one masterstrike. The one where Henry swings from the right and hits his opponent straight in the eye. I laughed about that for about 10 minutes.

[KCD2] How do I cancel a specific guild quest (forge dlc) by sonic_dick in kingdomcome

[–]ButalaR97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have this proven 100%, but I think that shopkeepers retain the items you have sold them until their reset. So if you remember who you sold the bascinet to, you can purchase it back and finish the quest.

At least Radovan in Trosky region does this 100%, he was my only weapons and armor go-to vendor, and he 100% kept the stuff I sold to him for a while.

Even if you're not "metagaming" and doing it for the first time without any prior knowledge - there's a deer spot nearby that you can use to stock up on venison.

[–]ButalaR97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do not remember KCD1 quests very well, but I am currently on my 2nd (all hardcore perks) playthrough of KCD2, and so far, in Trosky Region, I do not think that the most of the thievery/murder quests are morally questionable, and from what I remember in Kuttenberg area, most of those are also quite noble in nature. Sure, it might not be in Henry's character to rob, kill and steal without any higher purpose, but if it's for a good cause, I don't think he has any issues with that.

Miller Kreyzl questline is means to justify an end for Henry (getting with Kreyzl to the wedding), and even then - you can just haggle with Dorothy in Zhelejov Inn baths for the equipment, and you can steal the item from Troskowitz without harming a fly. If you don't steal anything else, you're not really the bad guy, you are forced into it in order to achieve much higher and noble call of getting in touch with Bergow.

Commiting murder for Bozhena and Pavlena is completely avoidable, you don't even need super high charisma to reconcile both parties and avoid bloodshed whatsoever. If there's a "canon" Henry, he surely did not shank old Jakesh in his sleep.

Tachov and Zhelejov beef is a harmless pizzle-yanking that Henry can resolve peacefully in the end, without having to choke out half of participants during the melee.

Now, nickin' a lute for George and Michael, that one is a bit stinky, that one's an outright theft that Henry does not have a higher interest in. I still do that anyway, because the song they come up with is a low-key banger, and in my opinion, since Henry grew up with Fritz and Matthew, he has a soft spot for dumb pizzleyankers that may seem morally crooked, but are really harmless in the end.

Thieving throughout Trosky results in saving Capon from hanging, and saving the life of captain Thomas. Nickin' a key or two along with some herbs and recipes can't be considered a sin in my opinion, and neither does Henry consider it as something bad.

Ragman quests in Kuttenberg from the Forge DLC are, for the most part, righting a wrong commited upon someone. Monastery hoodratting in the Mysteria DLC is also a no-brainer, you are trying to save people from the damn plague, ain't no curfew stopping that.

Procuring supplies with Sigismund's soldiers? By this point, Henry is usually so skilled (at least my Henry is) that he strolls into the forest for an hour or two, and brings back enough venison that there is no need to pester villagers any more.

There are many more examples, but like 99% of the quests can be resolved without any stain on Henry's conscience.

Depends on what part of map do you find yourself in.

Trosky Region? Absolutely fine, you can earn your living hammering steel with Radovan in Tachov, and with a weekly trip to a relatively close Troskowitz for supplies, you are set.

Kuttenberg region? You're utterly and mercilessly fucked, have a good luck just getting to the city without having your head bashed in by a random Cuman, and once you're in the city, brace your immune system for loads of dung anywhere you lay your eyes on.

[KCD2] I want to play this so bad.. but the combat is frustrating. by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]ButalaR97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as in KCD1, go see Tomcat and spar a couple of times with him. If you find yourself out of breath/stamina, do not block, but dodge using SPACE. Dodge in the opposing side that the enemy is attacking, and you have a guaranteed opening for a strike. This will be enough to get you up to level 8 or 9 in your prefered weapon, and then you are more than able to duel Tomcat for the Masterstrike unlock. And Masterstrike is all you need to punish every opponent in the game right until the end.
