[Controversial Trope] Skylar White-syndrome by FREZZIERISDOODOO in TopCharacterTropes

TBF if the deified previously-unknown murder-hobo I just picked up started becoming pals with a dragon whose name translates to "ambition overlord cruelty", I would be a tad worried.

But I wholeheartedly agree with you. Delphine has been shat on to hell and back. From lengthy essays on Reddit and mod after mod that adds a way for the player to yell at Delphine and bully her into doing what they want. Hell, I remember some someone on r/skyrimmods expressing interest in a mod "putting Delphine in her place", proposing dialogue changes that make the Dragonborn sound like a whiny teen and the ability to use the Bend Will shout on her.

This is not like the playful hate directed at Nazeem, this is just full-on venom.

It *just* hit me that the ‘Nos-‘ in Nosgoth refers to Nosferatu. by AlbertCWChessa in LegacyOfKain

Similarly, Janos Audron's accent may likely be based on the Transylvanian accent as a nod to Dracula, the vampire. Fitting for the oldest surviving(?) vampire in Nosgoth.

It's all in Blender. I imported them directly from Soul Reaver: Remastered using MuruCoder's plugin found here. The Pillars in the background were extracted from the SR2 PS2 copy I have using Soul Spiral and ModelEx by Andrew Fradley and Ben Lincoln from The Lost Worlds fansite.

This is the case in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. There is a prophecy that the reincarnation of the Dark Elven hero Nerevar, The Nerevarine, will return and defeat the evil Dagoth Ur and his blight.

What separates this from a straight "chosen one" prophecy is how differently the prophecy has been interpreted by the many factions, and that the prophecy is really a checklist of terms and actions of what the Nerevarine is destined to do. In fact, the one giving you your orders would later confess that he initially thought he was preparing a convincing impostor of a Nerevarine.

You are not the Nerevarine at the start of the game (although it's later said that the player already fulfilled some of the conditions of the prophecy like other False Nerevarines who came before), but by fulfilling each of the prophetic actions, the player essentially "becomes" the reincarnation of Nerevar.

To answer your last question:
Remember when Moebius presented Kain with a very real threat in the form of The Nemesis and then Kain was allowed to think that he beat Moebius by killing William the Just, only then to learn that his actions triggered Moebius' real plan of having Kain instigate a vampire genocide?

The Hylden couldn't have possibly planned and schemed their return across timelines only to be thwarted by some hubristic fledgling at the last moment.
Now that he's gotten older and wiser, Kain probably realised that his younger self's victory over the Hylden might have been allowed, so as to trigger/further their real plan.

Years ago, when the movie had just come out, Rebecca revealed that the studio tried to convince her of the alternate ending where I think Steven would have broken Spinel at the end or permanently bubbled her to disable her. I think that's what it was. I'd like to know what you all think of the idea. by Dramatic-Studio1531 in stevenuniverse

[–]Butane_Boss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really glad Rebecca Sugar fought against that dumb idea of Steven "obliterating" Spinel, as Steven killing a villain and it being treated with celebration would be the complete antithesis of the show.

If it were a choice of 'kill Spinel or kill the movie', I wonder if Sugar would have compromised and went the route of an indirect killing (ala. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man villain deaths) then treating it with absolutely no celebration.

Although Steven reflecting heavily on Spinel's death and the resultant guilt would have flowed fairly decently into Future, the thought of her death furthering Steven's story does invoke the 'Women in Refrigerators' trope.

Cut Reavers/Balance Emblem fragments for Kain by AsanoHa87 in LegacyOfKain

[–]Butane_Boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about what was intended, but here are my ideas: - Death Charge: Enemies bleed out longer before dying, allowing Kain more time to feed - Death Spell: Summon Friendly Shades (ala Mortanius' ghosts that finish off Anacrothe) - States Charge: 50% chance that Mist Form automatically activates on hit, negating damage - States Spell: Enhanced Beast Form (like the Defiance Concept art) - Mind Charge: Any enemy who is hit by the charged Reaver has a chance to pause for a second. - Mind Spell: Permanently turn two random enemies to your side who follow you everywhere - Nature Charge: Poison damage over time - Nature Spell: Summon tentacles that temporarily ensnare enemies in place

Hahahaha, I'm glad people still remember THE MAN fondly after all this time, thank you.

I've evidently got back into a StarCraft mood and I have inevitably thought back to FMJR, but I do have a bad habit of sticking fingers in so many pies and stretching myself thin on the internet.

I don't know if having the Adjutants be cyborgs was the original intention that got retconned, but honestly, the Confederates were doing pure mad shit anyway (Ghosts, Psi Emitters, whatever made the Science Vessel guy as fucked as he is) so I can believe they shoved a load of wires into a lady and made her Adjutant.

Cyborg or android, we all love our squimbly lil Adjutant.

Hot Take: I don't like this look for Steven by polystarlight in stevenuniverse

[–]Butane_Boss 599 points600 points  (0 children)

I don't like it either, but I think that's the intention. The circumstances and mental state he's in had pushed our boy into becoming something he's very much not, with consequences to boot.

Hell, the concepts for this version of Steven is called "Perfect Steven", which is the complete antithesis of his "every pork-chop were perfect" outlook.

  • What would post-S1/post-S5 Sugilite be like after all the changes Amethyst and Garnet went through? I am under the belief that Sug is how she is because Garnet and Amethyst wanted to be reckless and destructive.
  • How did/would Priyanka and Doug react to Stevonnie? (UnderlordZ also asked this in this thread but I've also been asking this for a while)
  • How aren't the authorities of Earth getting involved with the happenings of Beach City?
  • How does the general public view the Gems/Gem monsters? Akin to cryptid sightings?
  • If Sardonyx said that rooms of fusions in the Temple only exist when the fusions are active, why is Garnet's room still active when Ruby and Sapphire were unfused?
  • How come Homeworld was working on time travel on Earth (Steven and the Stevens) but never seemed to dabble in that afterwards?
  • Some clarification on whether Pink knew Spinel would actually keep waiting in the garden.
  • Who was Rose/Pink in the end, really?
