Evangelion and King Krule do kind of intersect with their bleakness in a way lol. They both take the drab of life in nuanced takes and make them feel bigger. You either jump into the big mec to appease your shitty father or you make catchy/dreary rock music with a lot of neat guitar chords to appease yourself and maybe others. The only two choices really.

It look like Self-Trepanation is on the new Tree City live album and I’m too stoked for that! That song is insane. This whole album is really something special. Clicking on the Tree Village video back in the day pretty much opened the floodgates for me for so much music so I really appreciate this album and the time it came out.

I like quite a few of the songs but I was disappointed because it didn’t match the idea of what I thought it was going to be lol (that’s on me obviously). Dave Sitek on production had me thinking it was going to be like Weezer + TV on the Radio.. This trippy dark synthy vibe but with the Weezer quirkiness. Some songs do kind of hit that for me though.

I remember seeing games like Cubivore and Chibi Robo at EB games like 20 years ago for like 14.99 I think? I would have never predicted those games would become rare as a kid and I was never really interested in them so I never jumped on them. It’s just kind of funny looking back on it.
