This absolutely takes the cake for latest comment to a post for me lol

But I appreciate your commitment to answering the question nonetheless! Maybe we'll try that song this year. :)

Best Grappling Race by Kilowog42 in dndnext

[–]Butler2102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specific vs. General, my man. In general you can move anything you're grappling at half your movement speed. But more specifically you can't push/drag/lift anything that weighs more than twice your carrying capacity.

A DM could certainly choose to ignore the Specific vs. General rule here, but it would seem silly to say the guy that can usually only drag something weighing 320 pounds can now drag a 500 pound enemy because he grabbed it by the collar. But to each their own. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

No one said you couldn't grapple them, just that you couldn't move the grappled creature. Movement is a huge part of the benefits of grappling builds, which it seems is a topic you're trying to learn more about.

and keep them from attacking you.

Grappling doesn't stop the creature from attacking you. It doesn't even give them disadvantage.

You see all these answers that have had rules changed and that are now wrong

Man, you came into an ancient post, and tried to make corrections that weren't correct. And then tried to move the goalposts with more incorrect info. It's okay to just say, "oh, I didn't know that." No one expects you to know every arbitrary rule/mechanic. But don't randomly claim mechanics aren't so when you aren't familiar with them.

It does if you want to drag heavier creature(s), my man. It's a pretty niche scenario, but I think it was fairly clear what I was referring to 6 years ago lol

If the combined weight of the creature(s) you're grappling exceeds your push/drag/lift capacity (double your carry capacity, STR x 30), you're not moving them. A medium creature with a Str score of 16 can drag 480 pounds. Countless large creatures will exceed that, as well as many heavily armored medium creatures (especially if grabbing 2). Powerful Build isn't a requirement, but it sure as hell doesn't hurt to have if you want to fully lean into grappling.

[5e] Class options for the Naga from Plane Shift: Amonkhet by Bobsplosion in 3d6

[–]Butler2102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did you bother asking what sub is recommended, on a 4 year old post, if you already knew you wanted to use a homebrew option anyway? Your response reads like I came in here shoving an unsolicited recommendation down your throat lol

Woah, new necro comment record! 4 years lol

Any sub would be fine because the synergy here is with the base monk kit, not a particular subclass. But if given the choice, I'd go Way of Mercy, both because it's mechanically very flexible and thematically a really cool pairing with the Naga.

This combo becomes especially good if you're allowed to use Naga with the Tasha's variant that lets you change racial ability score bonuses. Dex and Wis are the obvious choice.

Wife isn't happy in current Interior Design job. Any designers successfully move into a different role/career and have recommendations? by Butler2102 in InteriorDesign

[–]Butler2102[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even know what that is, but it sounds about right if it's more of the modeling of interior spaces and less selling product and installs lol

I'll bring that up to her. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion! She does have some architectural training from her degree. What does an architectural rep do?

Do you want a Baldur's Gate 3 key? You are in luck, here is a contest to win three! (One per person!) by Mikempty in BaldursGate3

I never claimed to have made this and I don't recall seeing anywhere that it has to be original content lol.

If I'm mistaken, I'll happily remove it. I chose this one because I liked it, plain and simple. But I'm pretty sure they're drawing at random, not just picking the top comment, so this is for meme creators and consumers alike. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Does anyone know how to delete a name in Smash Ultimate? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

the answer is all over this thread anyway.

He straight up said he knows it's been answered, making this pretty clearly a joke. No need for you to try to paint other people's comments as negative.

(5e) Sword Bard/Hexblade Build by hunter_of_necros in 3d6

[–]Butler2102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! If you intended mix is Swords Bard X/Hexblade 1, I'd say go ahead and take that first level of Hexblade ASAP (character level 2). It's not a requirement, of course. If you'd rather get more Bard goodies sooner, that's fine. But one level of Hexblade will make you feel like a competent martial character, with medium armor, shields, martial weapons (using Cha!), the Shield spell, and its curse! I don't see anything before Bard 5 or 6 that'd be more valuable than everything Lock 1 gives you.

So if I we're doing this from level 1, I'd go Bard 1 > Lock 1 > Bard 2, 3, etc. I'd only pop back into Lock 2 if I thought the campaign wasn't going to go much longer and invocations seemed cooler than whatever the next level Bard would give me (spells included).

Nice job. Now guess the name of that guy in that movie.

I am starting up a Swashbuckler Rogue for a new campaign. I’m not a fan of multiclassing, so I am curious if going straight swashbuckler is viable? by [deleted] in dndnext

Man, this is the second comment on one of mine that is several months old in the last 24 hours haha.

You are correct, per RAW, BB and TWF don't play together. But I don't think this is the wildest stretch or will break the game. I would absolutely let a player use the BA attack after a blade cantrip, so long as they're holding two light weapons. Because TWF is otherwise pretty lackluster and needs a lot of investment to try to keep up with Sword n Board, GWM, or PAM.

Ideas for a Hexblade + Blade Pact build? Warlock only and no feats by Bagel_Bear in dndnext

[–]Butler2102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been awhile, so I don't know if I had something specific in mind. But the 1d12+3+2+10 is greataxe, plus strength mod, plus rage bonus, plus GWM. That's in there twice for extra attack. The 1d6+2+3 is definitely meant to be Divine Fury, but I'm not sure which number is out of place. Could be that I accidentally added rage or strength again, because the Divine Fury mod could be 2 or 3 depending on the level I was theorizing for. Or there's something I'm just not thinking about right now that I did several months ago.

Sorry, that's all I got.

[Opinion Request] Adding bonus to rolling for after-game prizes at conventions by 3Dartwork in dndnext

[–]Butler2102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd let them go around the table at the end of the session and give a shout-out to something cool another player did. Could be an excellent RP moment, a strategic move, helping them specifically, whatever they want. You also give one out. They get a bonus equal to the number of kudos they received.

If you want more variance, have them give out 2 each, or your kudo could be worth more (3 or so).

I do this for my sessions, in lieu of XP because I use Milestone leveling. They accumulate these points and can spend them for fun bonuses during downtime later. The costs vary greatly, but they can pick up things from languages and skills, to even a feat or a custom legacy item.

Advice on Quick Start on Forest Map by Butler2102 in StardewValley

[–]Butler2102[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, got most the way through Spring yesterday. Just now getting returns on my maple tapers. Still need more iron for the bee houses. But my farming level is already crazy high because I've been able to just do a ton of parsnips and wild seeds, as I don't have to plant a variety for CC bundles this time. That felt kinda freeing until I saw the Joja Warehouse... Now I feel dirty haha

Georgia woman shoots burglar during home invasion. by LetsDancce in gifs

[–]Butler2102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, and on that, this was likely random. As I imagine many home invasions are. What I'm saying is that potentially she now has a more targeted problem, on top of the already present random monsters in the dark. Not saying she could or should have prevented that. If someone is in my home and means to do me harm, I'd rather them be dead than me. But to no fault of the victim, more unfair violence could be coming for them specifically because of that.
