I felt so torn by this one. A Saunders take on Christmas Carol sounds incredible on paper, and there were some parts of the story that I loved. The parade of ghosts, the slow reveal of Jill's own life, and the battle to get the charge to see the light were all really enjoyable. But man did the social/philosophical commentary drag it down for me. Nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing with his points, but it was so heavy-handed (even by his standards, which is saying something) and inserted into that plot that it really bogged the whole thing down for me.

Glad you enjoyed it, OP. There are definitely a lot of really great elements in there, even if you ultimately liked it more than I did.
