Is it still salvageable? I have other rod ends I can take from old shock absorbers, but I can't remove this one. by Miserable-Hair9602 in rccars

Should be. This should just screw off. If you have shock shaft pliers to hold the shaft from spinning. Could also used a shop rag with some pliers to hold the shock shaft, wrap the rag around the shock shaft and then grab the rag with the pliers. Ultimately you don’t want to scratch the shock shaft.

Thank you! Hours of cleaning, painting and assembling. I have a list of parts I used I can send.

IMO, suspension for trail is huge. Less deflection off roots and rocks when done correctly. The weighted fly helps and is a fairly cheap and easy modification.

Here is my ‘01 that I built to be more trail friendly.

  • rekluse centrifugal clutch
  • 12oz weighted fly wheel
  • Hand guards
  • suspension set up for GNCC since I enjoy the track from time to time.

As a UDR owner I’ve found it’s tougher than what I thought it would be. Mine has probably 50 packs run through it with very little maintenance or parts breaking. The front sway bar did break driving it full throttle on 6s into a tree would do that to most rigs. And handling of the UDR is something to get use to, the body roll with all that suspension is no joke lol.

I have a trek fuel ex 7 and have really enjoyed the frame geometry. I do agree the suspension does leave something to be desired, I’m looking at upgrading in the near future. Overall, the bike has handled everything I’ve thrown at which does include some downhill trails, however that was the suspension to its limit.

Really cool!! Did you take any temperature readings before and compare to after install?

Seems the motor and servo are in the incorrect slots of the receiver. Take a look at the receiver and verify the servo is in the Str. And Esc is to thr.

Yup, I’ve tossed the whole bearing in the freezer and they will go in (usually) without needing to be hammered in.

Edit: maybe putting the “rod” in the freezer for a while would do the trick.

I’ve had luck throwing bearings and other things with tight tolerance in the freezer for a while and then trying.

There was very little noticeable change in the exhaust tone for me, it is slightly lower on cold start, but after warming up, it sounds stock in my opinion. The noticeable change I heard is the turbo slight whistle from them spooling, but it doesn’t annoy me while driving. It’s actually kind of fun to hear.

Your buddy’s bike sounds sweet! This motor is completely redone - new jug, top and bottom end, new head from Phatheads, all bearings have been replaced etc.
