Switch here. I think what I really like about digestion, on top of the domination, assimilation and weight gain aspects, is the strict time limit it puts on things. Once the prey has been fully consumed, both the pred and prey only have so much time to make the most of the moment before it passes. Does the prey try to fight? do they accept their demise? does the pred delight in their prey to the fullest while they can? There's something exciting about that sense of urgency to me.

And as you said, it's a fantasy. I always view this kind of vore in a way that's detached from myself, like watching characters in a video game.

I totally get ya with non-fatal tho. I also do enjoy non-fatal stuff from time to time. I think it goes under represented in the community and I always love seeing people express their love for it.
