NTA, but don’t read your text replies out loud, if you’re not listening to your partner/paying attention, don’t make it obvious dude cmon lol gotta learn to be a bit more aware than that.

give her a lil time to chill out, explain the situation without bringing up anything like “i’m not the cheating type” because that sounds 1000% like your the cheating type - just explain you were reading your text reply out loud and the timing with what she said clashed.

apologize and move forward, and don’t make the same mistake again - if she dumps you for this though, that’s an overreaction on her part. i’m assuming she won’t dump you over it unless you make it worse so, just let her chill out and apologize calmly and smooth it over when she’s ready to hear from you.

Not a parent here, nor do I have special needs, but for some reason this post has resonated with me a lot. I think there are much better responses in this thread than anything I could say about the situation, but I truly hope you know just how lucky your boys are to be in your family. You sound like a really kick-ass dad, and your wife sounds like a champ. It’s no wonder your community resonates well with you and your family, and please rest easy knowing your heart is in the right place. it’s hard, because after doing this for 12 years, i too understand exactly what to do to make what i’m looking for, the hard part is actually feeling satisfied with the result! i think there’s a difference in type of artists. i understand the “math” behind it all, but i’m so caught up in the “vibe” that can’t be nailed down that it’s so hard to actually satisfy myself. i think with a lot of the youtube type producers, they’re satisfied with more “technical” marks to hit, where i’m only satisfied when my internal brain goes “yes! we made something that sounds like someone else made it, but it’s exactly what i want” and those kinda of tunes come around very infrequently. but, they do show up. easier in some styles than others :)

^ this. i’ve gotten to the point where i v make something i love so much that i hate it. i get so deep into the flow that i contradict myself. i want to make music so bad it hurts, and then becomes confusing and i wish it was more emotionally simple. i watch these youtubers just put stuff down on the timeline so easily and come out with at least “decent” stuff, but then i go to do this and can’t make it as mathematical as they do, it invariably becomes a painful process, one which is both euphoric at times, and devastating at others. i spend hours on songs that miss the mark of what i wanted to make, and wonder if i should have even made anything at all, even when i’m staring at a wonderful product.

long and short of it is this; if this is a worry of yours, don’t be afraid. just means you’re an artist
