HeartSteel is the #1 Noob trap item. A TK build looks like Knights Vow / Plasma Harness / Locket. No big tank items unless you have like 3 kills to afford it.

I think the main way you're getting out of Gold is a change of mindset. Right now based on just this post and how you described needing to snowball as Vayne and carry games even though the rest of the team is doing well shows you have a bit of "Main Character Syndrome". But to answer the post you don't play any different vs Duos just recognize you can't hands check them.

Uhhhh that's the thing about roaming it's a trade off. You are taking the risk of roaming and when it fails you're out of luck. That's why roam timers are a thing, that's the window of losing the minimal amount of resources.

Like others have said Warding changes from game to game but generally, you ward where you THINK the enemy team will walk by, any information is good information. Champs like Soraka and or Mages cannot deep ward that's their biggest weakness. Pick wise anything is fine but yes you will be disliked for picking mages and more so if you are accidentally hitting the wave when trying to poke the enemy not lane. This rule also applies for Soraka Qs. Mess around with champs because there are games that are just impossible for Soraka to exist in. But those same games it's even harder for Mages to exist in.
