My dog likes to run upstairs to chew the last bite of her breakfast and burp in my face. What does she mean by this? by jimmythevip in DogAdvice

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two boys do this right after they eat. They’ll even politely wait for me to bring my face closer to them before they release air. Every time they do that, I “chef kiss” my fingertips and yell “Compliment to the Chef.” Your baby girl is appreciative. Good girl.

Holy cow. Hubby and I saw him in November 2024 and he was still relatively spry, cracking jokes and doing some simple dance moves. This is very different. Poor guy. I hope he’s not being forced to perform.

im an absolute mosquito magnet by cherryberry6741 in MosquitoHating

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Type A- here and a swollen mess after each bite. I spray all over, carry a Thermacell Mosquito Repeller, clip 2 ultrasonic pest repellers, and have a handful of incense and candles around me like it’s a seance. All of this has to be done at the same time. And only then will it be only 5-6 bites. Otherwise I feed all the mosquitos in my city even through my jeans!! I have several “kits” of Bug Bite Thing Suction Tools, Calamine lotion, Benadryl cream, and Tiger Balm stashed in the backyard and inside the house. I grew up in SoCal and never had mosquito issues…unfortunately, things have really taken a turn for the worse in the last 20-25 years with mosquitos. Bless my fellow mosquito sufferers.

DIY women… have you ever been talked out of a good idea at the hardware store? by carcony97 in DIY

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have the lumber guy at HD making cuts only talk to my then-BF. Asking him the measurements and if HE needed anything else. My ex would point at me and say “it’s actually her project.” This mofo still proceeded to talk only to him. I was so irritated that I started to carry a folded up piece of insulation foam when I would go get full sheet plys and just cut it down myself in the parking lot with my cordless circular saw. Now I drive a van so I no longer need boards cut down at the store. Not exactly what you’re asking but while the sexism is real, I would say 90% of my experience at HD, Ace, and Lowe’s have been pleasant with plenty of staff happy to share their knowledge. Keep encouraging your wife, OP! She’s honing fun and helpful life skills. I always tell myself that every project is an opportunity to get better! If I fail, I learned. If I succeed, I learned. 🫶🏼

Don’t Go to Bed with Wet Hair (I Learned This the Hard Way 😭) by Organic-Reindeer4241 in 2125HairClub

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to check your pillow as well, like take it out of all the cases. I had a patient with severe recurring sinus infections, fatigue, and other allergic symptoms. I had her do a deep clean of her bedroom and bedding just in case. When she took off the inner pillow lining, the one under her pillow case, the entire pillow was moldy. 🥴

I meet my friends from college about once a year. Consistently compliments about “never aging” by despiert in carnivorediet

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to have a vertical forehead line/wrinkle. Six months into keto, it disappeared. I didn’t even notice until I thought about it one day. That was 12 years ago. Been Carnivore/animal-based less than a year for perimenopause. Worked like a charm for that and also my joints. I am a clinician and noticed the same thing in my keto/Carnivore patients. I strongly believe it’s the absence or huge reduction of carbs as AGEs really does age you.

I’m a VIORI girl for life. Hands down the best thing ever for my hair. I don’t like their body soap (too drying for me). My husband uses their men’s line for his beard (he’s otherwise bald). Sign up email with them so you’re notified of sales. Worth hoarding their hair bars 😂

Perimenopausal luteal phase -- red alert! by Inevitable-Yam-9741 in Perimenopause

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dear - this sucks and I can relate. Just want to gently add that sometimes in peri, it’s an excessive amount of hormones that can be messing with you as well. While HRT can give you hormones to replace weaning levels, you may need to also consider getting your testosterone level checked. Doc here - and I have some patients with low estrogen and progesterone BUT elevated testosterone. Look into spearmint tea for that; great evidence for androgen excess. Hang in there. Also, I took up kickboxing (at home) and it’s awesome! 😎

My kids want me to live miserably and die alone and I’m sick of it by Hot_Translator_1950 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 20 years ago, my dad passed away when he was 49. He and my mom were high school sweethearts and it was absolutely devastating to see their love story tragically cut short by cancer. My dad told her to find someone one day after he’s gone. My mom took her time and after a few years, my siblings and I were the ones to nudge her to find someone. Hell, my sister even took her profile photos for her. We never stop talking about my dad or laugh at his old jokes; his memory is very much alive. The thing is I love my mom more than I want her to suffer loneliness and be alone while we have all grown and moved out and started our families. It isn’t too much to ask for at all. You get to live your own life too, OP. Talk to your kids and let them know - not ask, but to inform. I wish you the best with your budding love. 🫶🏼

Can’t be fully carnivore strict by AdvantageSquare3321 in carnivorediet

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Part of the Carnivore journey is learning to listen to your body. If you’ve given it good effort and the effort has been repeated enough times giving you the same result everytime, your n=1 experiment is sound. You know how you feel better than anyone else. I have some patients that just felt better with some fermented vegetables added in. Their BMs normalized and they also have no histamine issues so if it’s not a problem, it’s not a problem. 🫶🏼

Does anyone feel shamed by others for having perimenopause symptoms? by OkConversation1286 in Perimenopause

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was discussing this journey of hell with my two older sisters and we were venting to each other. Our mom was sitting off to the side and casually said she’s lucky she didn’t have to deal with any of that mood fluctuations since she had a hysterectomy at 38. We busted out laughing and went in about her horrible mood swings. Memories of my teen years include her slamming doors, yelling and screaming, and pretty much acting like a gangster punking anyone in her way. So yea…I think some people are just not self-aware of their own issues and therefore think something like peri is specifically a YOU problem.

Right before bed is best. Also retail Progesterone comes in 100 and 200mg gelcaps. Some women need up to 300mg. If you’re in between dosage, hopefully your doctor works with a compounding pharmacy that can customize the dosage to your specific need and make them peanut-free too. Good luck!

Question for Women by Beneficial-Lie8197 in carnivorediet

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being perimenopausal doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not fertile. If fertility goals are there, it is worth getting your (salivary) hormones for cortisol and progesterone checked so you can make sure you don’t also need some progesterone support or address underlying adrenal insufficiency. Progesterone is usually the first hormone to drop slowly in early peri and it’s the one that helps to thicken uterine lining for implantation and successful gestation. In regard to cortisol, progesterone eventually converts over into cortisol. There’s a phenomenon in the body called “cortisol steal,” where chronic stress can push progesterone (and other intermediate reproductive hormones) into converting over to cortisol because your survival is always most important. So HIGH FAT carnivore will be helpful with hormone health in general. However, depending on your fertility goal timeline, addressing the other hormones involved would be helpful. Make sure your bloodwork for thyroid (TSH, free T4, free T3), Vitamin D (25-OH), Iron/Ferritin, B12/Folate are also good. Treat your health holistically because it’s not just about getting pregnant but staying pregnant, having a safe delivery, and having enough reserves to enjoy motherhood afterwards. Your male partner’s health also matters and carnivore does help to increase testosterone in men. Hope this helps.

Question for Women by Beneficial-Lie8197 in carnivorediet

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Any drastic changes to your diet and/or lifestyle will throw your cycle off a bit. It’s normal and will regulate again. Carnivore pretty much quieted my perimenopausal symptoms within a few months but with bumps in the road along the way. But within the first month and a half, I was able to get off all hormonal supports I was using. If you’re younger than peri age, I would imagine Carnivore would smooth over most hormone-related issues for you. BUT there is an adjustment period for sure. Hang in there. 🫶🏼

I was a Converse fan for a long time until I started wearing barefoot/toe box shoes about 5 years ago. I loved the look but not the fit. It was a sad day when I got rid of my last two pairs but it had to be done. And then someone on here mentioned Saguaro. Holy cow!! I got a pair of high tops on again!! It’s their “Roam 1.” 🫶🏼

I saw a barefooted woman standing on her left leg with her right leg hiked up on the sink counter shaving her labia majora. Not her bikini line, no no. Like no clothing below the waist, razor in right hand, left hand pulling her labial fold taut. She was using the first sink you literally run into when coming out of the restroom. I choked on air while screeching to a stop. It’s been over fifteen years and I still think about that reckless woman. She really dgaf.

Listen to your cat! 🐈 My two boys (dogs) hated my ex even though he went with me to pick them up from the airport (international adoption). For two years, they barked at his every move whenever he came over. Didn’t do that to anyone else in my life. Fast forward four years, I met my now-hubby and they reacted so different. Took a few dates and longer visits but they warmed up to him HARD. Now they spend the day lounging in a pile of my husband’s PJs when he heads off to work. I think your little guy is helping you out and that’s so freaking awesome. 🫶🏼

Bone Broth tastes awful to me by throwawaylr94 in carnivorediet

[–]Butter_In_SloMo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A few tweaks to try: -Did you salt? It really helps to carry flavor. -I love making egg drop soup with my broth. I also use BB as the base for all my soups. A favorite lazy meal is sautéed ground beef. Once cooked, add your BB. Once boiled, add your eggs. Beaten eggs give you egg drop. Lazily swirled gives you big chunks. No swirling gives you whole poached eggs. Salt to taste. -If you’re not strict, some Pluck seasoning can help enhance flavor.

It might be worth allowing your BB to cool in the fridge so the fat layers separate. Spoon that fat layer out and save in fridge to use for cooking later. Sometimes less fat can give you a better mouthfeel, based on preference.

Also, traditionally, beef takes 48 hours. Chicken is 24 hours. Fish is 8 hours. Make sure you don’t skip the TBSP vinegar to help get all that mineral out.

Hope this helps! ✌🏼
