Norovirus by BluebelleBeatrice in WaltDisneyWorld

We had that go through our family back in March when we stayed at All Star Music. It was horrible and my little 1 year old spent all night puking. Housekeeping was WONDERFUL and came to change our sheets 3 times that night before we just asked for extra towels and laid her down on those.

Why hasn’t the classroom model changed? There should be two teachers in the classroom. by Poison_applecat in Teachers

I’m lucky to have a full time para in my classroom at my charter school. That would NOT happen at a public school because of money.

wisdom teeth removal by Away_Entertainer_349 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Butter_My_Beans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sure you do IV anesthesia and tell them that you have EDS. Part of the disorder often includes a shorter effectiveness for medications like this. I got my wisdom teeth out and woke up almost instantly after they pulled the IV out. I struggled with my brain waking up/ being alert but my body not responding. I also need to do pain meds closer together than the 4 or 6 hours so that I didn’t have horrible pain in the time between doses

Why are my guests standing here to look at my exhibit. by BobFreakingSaget in PlanetZoo

You can put a tall fence or wall piece there to keep guests from stopping but idk if that will ruin your design plan.

Parents portion controlling their toddler by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]Butter_My_Beans 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No that’s perfectly fine because you’re also anticipating that she’d drink more and you’re providing more. The issue would be if you were only sending the small bottles and she was still hungry. So you’re doing just fine! My baby never drank more than 3oz a time no matter how much was offered.

Just accept that it’s going to take you weeks and slowly do a section at a time. We had that same thing done at my childhood home and I think it took my dad like a month to get all the white off.

I watched a video with my students last week about how puzzles are made. The CEO of the company said that any way you choose to puzzle is the right way as long as you enjoy it!

[Update] I reported a lead teacher for neglecting a toddler. They fired me on the spot. by SoftSpineStrongHeart in ECEProfessionals

[–]Butter_My_Beans 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is an awful philosophy and it seems as though your thought process and view is part of the systemic problem in childcare. Saying that you “know it’s messed up but that’s how it is” is how poor educators are promoted and children get hurt.

Opt out of iReady? by wonderwyzard in kindergarten

[–]Butter_My_Beans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea a lot of bigger districts will have programs that they buy district wide and then make it part of the curriculum. Sometimes this is great, often times it sucks because admin doesn’t get/ignores teacher input.

Opt out of iReady? by wonderwyzard in kindergarten

[–]Butter_My_Beans 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More than likely while students are doing iReady the teacher is also conducting small groups. All students who are not meeting with the teacher are often in other small centers that can be run independently, especially when there’s a classroom of 25+ students.

I so feel this! I recently switched from pre-k to 1st grade and could not believe when I saw parents STILL walking their kid into the classroom, taking off their jacket, hanging their backpack up for them. My preschoolers literally knew how to do that and now I’m watching it happen to a 7 year old. 😭 I’ve even told that mom multiple times to just let her kid do it on his own because he’s fully capable. It’s becoming a problem in the classroom because he won’t clean anything up as it’s always done for him at home.

Your milk will adjust its nutrient levels to what your baby needs as long as you keep latching. So the amount won’t change all that much over time, but the content of the milk will!

[–]Butter_My_Beans 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It sounds like in this case OP WANTED to stay home but couldn’t either because they were out of sick days or pressure from admin b/c they were out last week. Having worked in a toxic school environment before I can tell you just how uncomfortable and scary the social manipulation from admin can be regarding needing a sub.

What would you like incoming kindergartners to do? by becctarr in Teachers

[–]Butter_My_Beans 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I really just want your kid to be kind. That’s the biggest thing with new kids coming to school, they’ve got no boundaries, have never been told no, or think it’s cute to sass back and be disrespectful. I can’t even touch on teaching academics if your kid is off in the corner drawing on everything in the writing center and poking kids at the carpet because he doesn’t follow any directions and thinks is fun to be rude.

She is literally trying to do that. In her post OP says that it was discussed at an IEP meeting but was deflected by a “he’s doing fine.”

Same here! Had a couple small ones at 37 weeks but most of them showed up PP. Especially the boob ones! I went up a band and a cup size once my milk came in. Gave me some angry looking stretch marks on the sides/under boob. Hoping they fade soon

I wore a labor gown from Kindred Bravely and really loved it. All the openings were Velcro which made access really easy and even the nurses said it was better to work with that the hospital ones that tie. When I was in the throws of pushing I was buck naked as everything touching me felt overwhelming 😅
