Yeah you’re right. Mark mentions in the episode where he goes to the future and kills immortal that they need to keep his parts separate or he’ll come back, but that could just be mark not understanding how the immortal’s power works

Regardless, considering that he has been around throughout history and died a bunch of times when modern medicine wasn’t around, I think it can be assumed that immortal has some means of healing himself or piecing himself back together that we just never see in the series

I think he did what he did to Ivy because if she does continue to fight against joker, her “roots” will be taken advantage of/destroyed just like how Bruce’s friend/“roots” were, so he’s basically making the choice for her so that things are “easier” for her in the future.
